The Tropical Storm Warning has been canceled and replaced with a Wind Advisory. Multiple trees and power lines are down across the county. Avoid unnecessary travel if possible while crews clear roads and restore service. Rain and winds will continue easing this morning.

7:20 AM CDT Friday Oct 9 Update: Isaias becomes a major hurricane. Data from an Air Force Reserve hurricane hunter aircraft indicate that the maximum sustained winds have increased to 120 mph. Isaias is now a category 3 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. Follow the latest at hurricanes.gov

Here is a summary of all watches and warnings for Central Alabama along with the tornado risk maps for later today/tonight and Saturday. Preparations should be finalized this morning for high winds, heavy rain that may cause localized flooding and potential for isolated tornadoes
A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for the southern portions of Central Alabama. A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for the remainder of South-Central Alabama. A High Wind Watch is in effect for the northern portions of Central Alabama. Whether due to the weakening tropical system or from the post-tropical system, high winds are expected that will cause damage to trees and cause power outages. Move items inside that can be tossed around in strong winds.
