Sorry for long post but this is a bad take. Proxies have deadlines that are well before the actual contest deadline. If we take the person at his word that he submitted his pick to the proxy on Friday, that was a day before the contest deadline. The strangest part of the story is that the proxy didn't come clean til after the Circa deadline had passed. Had they told him sooner, he could have entered the pick himself or had someone else do it. In no world is anyone to blame but the proxy for not entering a pick that their client gave them. And then they failed to tell him about the mistake until it was too late. I assume it's just incompetence and not malice, but wow it looks really bad given how high the stakes are. The proxy component of these contests is an existential threat to the contests themselves and needs to be fixed before next year. I'm sure Circa would love to eliminate the proxies and get Nevada Gaming to allow pick entry from outside Nevada, even if participants are still required to register in person. Seems like a good compromise. It's not Circa's fault the proxies have to play such an outsized role in these contests.
