First real activation shortly after Tom Scott covered it...?
On Saturday 24th October, our MIST System was activated for its first real incident in the Southbound tunnel, in response to a vehicle fire.
The Fixed Fire Suppression System was the first of its kind to be installed in a British tunnel, and it is a critical part of our tunnels safety. Activated via our SCADA monitoring system, the system can target three fire zones, including the affected zone plus one zone either side, to fully contain the fire until emergency services respond. While we hope it's rarely needed, Saturday's incident demonstrated exactly why this investment in safety and regular maintenance is so important.
We are pleased to share that the incident was safely resolved within an hour, with no reported injuries, and attendance from the North East Ambulance Service was not required.
A big thank you to our Operational Delivery team, as well as emergency services who responded quickly and professionally.

I’m just going to say it: The number of engineers not using AI coding is approaching zero. We are not talking about it because the public has all the nuance of a witch trial, but I assure you it’s true.
It's just occurred to me we might start seeing "claude UI" seeping into our every day apps & websites.
Wonder whether UI & UX design will assimilate into some common style over the next 5/10 years...
