After 364 days of waiting, Emily Leonard, North Mississippi’s most experienced, trusted, talented, and beloved news anchor joins our team to launch News, starting at 5PM today, and anytime in the Mississippi Live Weather App (just click on "Local News" in red on the home screen." But this is way more than one person, this is a partnership that extends throughout Mississippi. We are going to be working alongside journalists at the @DJournalnow , @CDispatch , and @DailyCorinthian among others to focus on local news that makes a difference in your life. These are partnerships we've worked to forge, because we believe that these journalists produce important community news, and we believe, in addition to original reporting, we can amplify some of their stories on our broadcasts, keeping you informed, and helping to direct you to the excellent depth-of-coverage that these publishers have always provided. If Mississippi LIVE Weather was the logical next step for weather coverage, then this is the next leap forward for the news as an industry, not just here but across the nation. No one else is doing this, anywhere. It's not going to be perfect at first, but we'll get there, and between Ethan, Caleb, Maggye, Gabe, and myself, we'll be doing a little news, and giving it our best, as always! And yes, we'll be expanding staff in the future to continue expanding our news gathering abilities. If that wasn't enough, soon we'll be transitioning the website to ms.live, which more evenly represents our growth into areas beyond just weather. On that page, we'll have a dedicated page for news (ms.live/news), which is live and awaiting content. If you haven't already, please download our apps for your TV, just search for "Mississippi Live" on Roku, Fire TV, and Apple TV. You can also watch on @MaxxSouth and our mobile apps (ms.live/iOS & ms.live/Play). THANK YOU for your support, patience, and prayers, they're all needed, but I'm so very excited that we'll debut Mississippi LIVE News as part of our regular broadcast today at 5pm and 6pm.
