AMERICA AS I SEE IT — COMMENTARY BY KENNETH F CROWE ONE RULE FOR THEM, ANOTHER RULE FOR US? YOU BE THE JUDGE! Folks, look at this picture and read it slow. The post says ONE IN FIVE American workers gets ZERO paid sick days. And it says a Senator who has voted against changing that since 1993 has been off work since June on full salary. Is that true? Let's check the facts. Mitch McConnell is 84 years old, the longest-serving Republican Senator in history. He was taken from his home to a hospital in mid-June after a fall, developed pneumonia, and has not voted since June 11, 2026 — missing 46 votes. His office said August 6 he was discharged from rehab to recover at home. And yes — while he's been recovering, his $174,000 salary continues uninterrupted. Now folks, I wish Senator McConnell a full recovery. I pray for his health. He's a Kentucky man, an American, and no one wants to see anyone in a hospital. But here's the question this picture is asking — and it's a fair question for ANY Senator, Republican or Democrat: If you are an hourly worker in Constable, Malone, or Plattsburgh — you work at the gas station, the diner, the dairy farm — you get sick, you get ZERO pay. One in five workers in America gets no paid sick days at all. You miss a day, you miss rent. If you are a United States Senator, you can be gone since June, miss vote after vote on defense bills and Trump nominees, and your paycheck never stops. Should the rules be the same for both? I have always said — Congress should live under the same laws they pass for us! If they vote for ObamaCare, they should be on ObamaCare! If they say no paid sick leave mandate for small business, then they should understand what no paid leave feels like! This is why we need term limits! This is why we need fresh blood! 30, 40 years in Washington is too long! Pray for McConnell's health, but also pray we get a Congress that understands what it's like to punch a clock! Should Senators who are gone for months still get full pay while workers get nothing? YES or NO? What do you think?
