I’ll never understand people saying this has to be the “point” of Avatar. That was Aang’s path specifically because he was an air nomad, he didn’t live in a world where all the benders grow up and train together. I don’t need to watch every Avatar have the same struggle

Folks don’t remember Katara getting irritated at how fast Aang surpassed her with that damn scroll 😭 he only struggled with elements that didn’t fit his personality and culture. In a world where all benders grow up in harmony ofc it’d be easier to get basics on all 4 early

But just starting out or doing the very basics, most avatars can inherently do that.
I don’t know how anyone watched ATLA & came to the conclusion that Pavi already bending all four elements doesn’t make sense.

Crazy thing is the original doesn’t even perfectly adhere to these dumbass standards, hate on ANYTHING is just overly incentivized so every fandom is genuinely insufferable. I actually have to block everybody to enjoy ANYTHING these days.
Master at 12, caught waterbending INSTANTLY easier than a born water bender (Katara) and there’s a whole episode dedicated to her having a bad attitude about it. He picked up fire easily but got scared after hurting Katara. Earth was hard bcuz of his passive personality/culture
