Win or lose, the current SoftBank Hawks are indeed one of Japanese baseballs top dynasties. You all know No. 1. Today, I rank the rest, from the Yomiuri Giants' golden era to the current Hanshin Tigers. jballallen.com/ranking-japan…

Gondo is correct. Japan needs to raise its game several notches, create more pro teams and jobs in playing and development to attract not only Japan's best but the world's best. Who would choose to play in Japan if the world's best baseball was here? A lot of people.

After seeing comparisons between Barack Obama and Donald Trump giving speeches over the weekend, here's another comparison about how they each talk. #Obama #Trump #presidential

This is the first Japan Series with three extra-inning games since 2010, and the first with three-straight extended-play offerings since 1995, when the Yakult Swallows beat Ichiro Suzuki and the Orix BlueWave in five games.

I was there. The entire stadium was pulling for the Pacific League as a grand public middle finger to Japan’s odious owners

It's been 37 years since I watched that dramatic night when the Kintetsu Buffaloes' pennant was clinhced when their double header nightcap with the Lotte Orions ended in a tie due to a PL curfew preventing extra-innings from starting 4 hours after the start of the game.

Everything about Japan Series Game 1: a thriller with extra innings, and beast-mode Shugo Maki. The Series is a tremendous show. Unfortunately, NPB promotes its marquee product like a half-off sale on last week's stale bagels. What's up with that? jballallen.com/2026-japan-se…

Fantastic question: all three were un the right place at the right moment—and each understood that peace, freedom and liberty were treasures beyond measure to be pursued with the intensity of war.
