This is why, when Republicans use the word socialism to tag Democrats, it has no relationship with the actual definition of the word.
Q: How do you define socialism personally? JD VANCE: I think in reality what it actually means in the American context is you want to replace American workers with foreigners workers, and you want boys to play in girls' sports

Demented Don just said that he 'Called the commissioner of baseball and got Pete Rose inducted into the hall of fame, but unfortunately, it didn't happen until after he died." Somebody please tell Grandpa that Pete Rose is NOT in the hall of fame.

And he shouldn’t feel bad about it. What a ridiculous “etiquette” debate.
I caught my first foul ball at 31 years old and a parent sent their kid back 10 rows to ask me for it. I straight up said no I’ve been waiting for this my whole life.

This didn’t change in the last hour. Padres went 0-21 after the Tatis HR in the third, which was their only hit after the first. Johnny Wholestaff allowed just three runs; they didn’t lose the game. It was the offense, as usual.
Two of first three Padres tonight got hits. Since then they’ve had one — Tatis’ HR. All the discussion about pitching moves but the larger problem is what it usually is this time of year.

That was indeed the same spot Manny hit the ball that Adam Jones caught in WBC. Same result. #SanDiegoSports

Quick hook for Ray but two RHH due up and I think Stammen & Co. have little confidence in the offense so they’re playing it like any run could end their season. Which, of course, it could.

I know Buehler struggled some in third but I’m sending him back out for the fourth. Short leash of course but deserves a chance to see if can get back to what he had first two innings. Also, no rush to get Ray in there.

There’s the short leash. But Buehler didn’t show anything in that AB to Contreras so can’t really blame them for going to lefty with this part of MIL order up. Up to Ray to deliver.

Huge break there for Padres with Ortiz passing on DP. Can they cash in with clutch hit? Oh, and look, another dumb challenge by Contreras.

Except you can’t convince me people here really care about those schools except Gonzaga.

What does help is they are in a really good (likely 6th best) conference….

It’s already happened in football. I’m afraid basketball might be heading in that direction. Too much money elsewhere.

Do you get the sense that the Aztecs increasingly won’t be able to compete in this era of college sports, and the product will not be as elite as it has been, thus interest decreases?

Dodgers clinching their series vs. Braves means if Padres win tonight, Game 5 will be played shortly after 5 pm PT Friday (Fox/Fox One). NLCS will begin at same time Sunday in Milwaukee or LA. Game 2 is Monday, likely around 1 PT. Then 3-5 Wednesday through Friday in LA or SD.

I get why they felt like they had to try to get every dollar, especially w/the deficits they’re running in that athletic department, but at some point you have to know when enough is enough. This last hike was last straw for me sharing tickets, and clearly many others as well.

Besides you being correct, there are a lot of folks sitting where we now sit that, like us, got priced out of the really pricey seats.

Renewal rate just 84%. Turns out you can’t keep asking fans to pay more and more to watch crappy non-conference games — and move some of the better games off campus — without paying a penalty.

Mason Miller's son, Lincoln, was born during the game yesterday. Mom and baby are healthy. He declined having TV on during labor -- "They asked, but I can't do that. Adrenaline and everything was going pretty hard" -- but shared how he found out King got the save 😂 #Padres

Brewers struck out 22% of time, right at league average rate (22.1) this year. Nine other playoff teams — Astros, Red Sox, Phillies, Braves, Padres, Cubs, Guardians, Dodgers and Rays — were all better at making contact.
The Milwaukee Brewers are putting on full display the value of contact hitting, a lost art that has been neglected by analytic departments for the last 15 years. It just feels like every single hitter in their lineup is going to put the ball in play and advance a runner.

Just incomprehensible what Kyle Teel just did there for White Sox. Two incredibly low-leverage defensive challenges in the third inning and missed them both. Now White Sox are out for the day.
