BREAKING eBay news for live sellers!
I literally just got this email from eBay letting live sellers know that from the beginning of July - End of December they are reducing the transaction fee on items $10 and under for $0.30 to $0.10
As someone who primarily operates in this lane, it is pretty significant. This is the first time that I can remember of eBay reducing any sort of seller fees. I hope this continues past December!

🚨 EBAY JUST MADE A MASSIVE SELLER-FRIENDLY SHIPPING CHANGE.
Starting THIS MONTH!
IF YOU SHIP ON TIME WITH AN EBAY LABEL… YOUR JOB IS DONE.
Package gets delayed by USPS/UPS/FedEx?
👉 eBay handles the delayed-delivery refund request.
👉 Your seller rating is protected.
👉 Your late shipment rate is protected.
👉 No action required from you.
That is a BIG deal.
For years, one of the most frustrating parts of selling online has been getting blamed for something completely outside your control, you've seen me complain about it! 😀
Even if YOU shipped it on time or THE CARRIER delivered it late. YOU (the seller) took the hit.
Not anymore!!!
And it gets better.
If tracking proves you shipped within your handling time, you're protected even if the package arrives late.
If you shipped late but the package still arrives by eBay's promised delivery date, you're protected.
And if a buyer leaves negative or neutral feedback complaining about delivery when tracking proves you did your job, you can request to have that feedback removed.
🔥 eBay is far from perfect, but this is EXACTLY the type of seller protection marketplaces should be building.
Do your job. Ship on time. Get a carrier scan. Let eBay deal with the rest. Love it!

💡Stop Chasing Expensive Cards. Do This Instead!
I think there’s a really interesting lesson in a collection I just purchased (in North Carolina)
The collector had spent nearly a decade building it, but he had one rule that I found fascinating:
His budget was up to $1,500 per card (but tried to sit around $300).
That didn’t mean he was buying cheap cards. Quite the opposite.
He specifically hunted for great players, incredible-looking inserts and SPs, and the highest grades he could reasonably afford. Cards that felt special. Cards you’d actually want to pull out and show someone. (This was his main goal for his office)
His thesis was pretty simple: if he consistently bought great looking cards of players people cared about, eventually the market would catch up.
He wasn’t trying to flip them next month. He wasn’t chasing every new release. And he wasn’t stretching to buy the $10,000 or $20,000 card because everyone else said it was a "grail."
He just kept buying really good stuff under $1,500.
Then he gave it time. 👈 This is the key.
Over the last five years, his collection appreciated roughly 140%.
Eventually, I bought the collection from him for more than $120,000...and he's taking money and restarting!
It got me thinking about how I approach cards.
Everyone would love to go back and buy Nvidia, Apple or Tesla before the rest of the world understood what they could become. The opportunity wasn’t necessarily that nobody knew those companies existed. The opportunity was recognizing quality before the market fully priced it in.
I think collectibles can occasionally work the same way.
There are cards sitting at $300, $700 or $1,500 today that five or ten years from now people may look at and say, “How was that ever that cheap?”
Obviously, figuring out WHICH cards those are is the hard part. And there are no guarantees that a card appreciates simply because you hold it long enough.
But I love the philosophy.
Instead of constantly asking:
“What card is about to go up?”
Maybe ask:
“What can I buy today that I think collectors are going to appreciate MORE five years from now than they do today?”
Great player. Great card. Great eye appeal. Strong grade.
A price you can live with.
Then stop staring at the comp every 48 hours. 🤫
Sometimes the best thing you can do for a great collectible is give the rest of the market time to figure out what you already saw.
Can't wait for you to see this episode in a few months!

🚨BREAKING: If you're in the sports card / resale world, you should probably pay attention to what just happened in the last 24 hours.
Whatnot just announced a MASSIVE $545 MILLION funding round. (link below)
At basically the exact same time, eBay announced that eBay Live GMV is up roughly 8X year-over-year.
Two companies at completely different stages of business.
Both throwing massive amounts of gasoline on LIVE COMMERCE.
And some of these numbers are kind of crazy...
Whatnot says:
💡Sellers have already sold MORE halfway through 2026 than they did in ALL of 2025.
💡650,000+ people are joining Whatnot every WEEK.
💡The number of sellers who have crossed $1M in lifetime sales has more than doubled over the last year.
Meanwhile eBay says:
🕯️eBay Live GMV is roughly 8X last year.
🕯️90%+ of sellers who stream regularly have grown their GMV.
🕯️Sellers using Live sell about 3X more than sellers who don't.
🕯️New collectibles buyers using Live are spending roughly 70% more.
Here's what I think this actually means...
Live selling isn't an experiment anymore. I know many folks who keep thinking this "fad" will fade. It's not happening.
We're watching these companies fight for what they believe will be a massive piece of how people buy stuff online. They are literally pouring everything they have into this!
Whatnot is raising $545M to acquire buyers, expand markets/categories and build better seller tools.
eBay is opening Live to more sellers, expanding internationally and putting Live deeper into the normal eBay buying experience.
And I think THAT is probably the most important part.
- You don't have to love Whatnot.
- You don't have to love eBay Live.
- You don't even have to enjoy selling live.
But if you're a reseller and you're completely dismissing live commerce because you think it's some fad that eventually disappears... I've got some bad news. You're missing a massive opportunity.
I've mentioned this in many videos, but Live Selling provides something that people desperately want... COMMUNITY. Underneath all of the pizzaz and fast-paced commerce, I truly believe it's the interaction and community that make live selling so unique.
So, don't dismiss this any longer. If you're a reseller you HAVE to figure out where Live Selling fits in your long-term strategy. Build your community!

The "the hobby is too corporate now" posts/videos always explode during National week.
"It's all about the money."
"The real collectors are gone."
"This isn't the hobby I grew up with."
I just don't buy it.
Collectors. Investors. Dealers. Flippers.
Most of us are all four at different times.
If your favorite card doubled in value overnight... you'd be happy. If you say you wouldn't, you're lying to yourself.
If I offered you $1,000 for a card worth $100...almost everyone would sell it. Even the people who claim they "don't care about the money."
Let's stop pretending we're operating in different universes. The hobby works because it's a marketplace!!!
Kids ripping wax.
Collectors chasing childhood memories.
Dealers making a living.
Investors taking risks.
People buying raw.
People grading PSA 10s.
People collecting T206s.
People chasing tomorrow's rookie.
It all belongs.
The magic of this hobby isn't that nobody cares about value.
👉The magic is that everyone has a different reason for being here... and somehow it all works together.
Finally....The people complaining that 'money ruined the hobby' usually have a collection they'd 'never sell.'.. until the offer gets high enough. 🫣
