Happy Birthday, Mr. Musk!
Apparently it's Elon Musk's birthday today, and people on Twitter think it's a good time to say nice things about him. I agree.
Thank you, Elon, for whacking social-media censorship with a huge bludgeon. I wouldn't be using X if you hadn't done that.
Thank you for doing what you think is right and not giving a shit about whether that makes you popular or not. I try to be like that, and I wish more people would.
Thank you for busting your ass to make us a space-faring civilization. Thank you for sharing the science-fiction dreams I grew up on and making them real.
Thank you for being funny, fallible, and heroic. I think people like you make greatness look more achievable to today's young than someone who never looks like he misses a step. You're a man they can admire, and aspire to be like, and that's good.
Thank you for not kneeling to the goddamn woke totalitarians. I'd love to see more of that, too.
Everything I've done to change the world I did because I cared about freedom and truth and competence and making a future in which people have more choices, and because I have zero tolerance for bullshit. I recognize those drives in you, and praise you for them. While I wouldn't stack my accomplishments against yours, I feel we are brothers in spirit.
Maybe we'll meet and shake hands someday, and laugh and swap stories and argue passionately and get to be friends. I'd like that.
DWeb Camp 2024 is an extraordinary opportunity for you to help shape what is next for peer-to-peer humanity.
Join us tomorrow, Thursday the 23rd at 10:00 am Pacific!

UAE Leadership is technologically enlightened. United States policymakers could learn much from the leaders of UAE, Estonia, Ukraine and other technologically enlightened countries.
This is what UAE is doing with *golden visas*
Multiple categories, employment visa based on job.
Golden visa = valid 10 years even without job for high skilled STEM
Lots of diff angles but US is not making any changes on any category. I’d be happy to use my software for govt’s to select and verify high level talent for visas.
I love this!!! So succinct and useful!! Thanks, Peter!
Thanks @JayCarpenter for reminding me (again) at #Dwebcamp about this pithy post I shared a few years back. It still applies equally five years later on, in #digipres & #blockchain & #decentralization contexts.

Thanks @JayCarpenter for reminding me (again) at #Dwebcamp about this pithy post I shared a few years back. It still applies equally five years later on, in #digipres & #blockchain & #decentralization contexts.
In my 20 years experience in the #digipres domain I have read a fair share of complex theory, principles, etc.. In practice, I am always able to simplify ‘things’ and group them under three core questions: 1) can I find it? 2) can I use it? 3) can I trust it?
