The rules against naked short selling exist , but when enforcing them threatens powerful firms, regulators shut the market down instead.
The proof is documented. A FOIA-released email shows coordination between a broker-dealer trade group, FIF (Financial Information Forum), and the SEC @SECGov not to protect investors, but to manage exposure.
MMTLP is the poster child for this RICO crime scene: millions of naked shorts spread across a multitude of broker-dealers, never closed.
The outcome was not market driven.
It was regulator driven.
FINRA and the SEC picked the winners and losers and the losers weren’t Wall Street firms. They were the Americans who owned the stock.

The problem is so much bigger than you can possibly imagine and been going on for way longer.
The stock market has become an absolute joke and this shouldn't happen in the US. We have many Countries standing up against the corruption and manipulation in the global markets. But we have US regulators aiding and abetting the criminals.
This needs to change if we want a strong healthy America. You can't carry on letting them rob the citizens and global shareholders blind. #FTDs shouldn't be in the Millions for months. Trade settlement shouldn't be an option but mandatory. You can't sell something you don't own and can't settle.
