Yo! We should do a podcast on AX, @gregisenberg ! Been focusing on this exactly for the majority of two years and there’s a lot of things that are misunderstood about it and a lot of things that people aren’t growing that it will define which businesses stay ahead going forward

I’m not saying the projects don’t have impact (also the technical teams are amazing). I’m just pointing the obvious at this point. It’s always set up as for the good of the industry but ends up being for the good of Vercel and morphing into something else. Also, there a difference in funneling support for the sustainability and values of opensource (tanstack is exceptional at this) and using opensource as a funnel. Totally fine but I don’t like pretending that it’s one thing and when it’s really the other. On the Netlify front, we do a bunch of open source work. Some in AI and some in other areas. Same impact? Not in the slightest, but I’d point that to other factors. That said, I’m not sure that this is relevant to the point about how one twists positions in open source. I do know we don’t do that and vercel’s projects impact doesn’t make it any less cringe when they do it again.

Netlify's MCP is hooked up and supporting MCP 2026-07-28 day 1! It's a great spec, kudos to the working groups!

AX is not unique to Netlify, just like web performance isn't. We need open tools for knowing what good looks like and keeping AX good. I built AXIS as an open source project and scoring system dedicated to AX so that our team understands how agents work with Netlify, how our investments in MCP/skills/plugins actually move the needle for making agents better. There's a lot that goes into maintaining a good AX and this project is expanding, we'd love for you to get involved!
