Really pleased the @metpoliceuk have listened to the extent of concern from our local community and imposed conditions on this far right march.
Businesses and local residents in Church street and around Edgware road have been subject to increasing far right targeting online over recent days and they deserve to go about their lives safely and free from intimidation in their community.
I will continue to stand up for our strong, diverse community that embodies British values of mutual respect and neighbourliness.
We have imposed conditions under the Public Order Act on a Unite the People march organised by UKIP on Saturday, 29 August to prevent serious disorder and serious disruption to communities.
Anyone who knowingly breaches the conditions will be committing a criminal offence. Officers will be policing the events to ensure they pass safely and peacefully.
The conditions mean the protest must:
Participants in the 'No to Sharia Law' protest must assemble on Hyde Park Corner in the shaded area on the map below.
Participants in the 'No to Sharia Law' protest must not assemble before 11:30hrs.
Participants in the 'No to Sharia Law' must follow the route outlined on the map below.
Participants in the ‘No to Sharia Law rally’ must assemble in the shaded area on the attached map in Richmond Terrace.
The 'No to Sharia Law' rally must end by 16:30hrs.
Grateful to be re‑elected to serve Pimlico South. Thank you to everyone who put their trust in me again. And my thanks to the Conservative candidates for the respectful and constructive way they approached the campaign. I look forward to working together for our community.
