$APP AXON pixel installs up 5.2% 15,726 → 16,550 Expected deceleration following the spike two weeks ago. 2–5% WoW growth is still very strong I'll post the country specific growth when I get it

We announced next-gen SCM at Transcend in June, with Nick from Anthropic on stage. Their new post shows why: merges went from 2,500 to 30,000+ a day in four months. They built Scion for their unique needs, enterprises will need that scale on Git, governed end to end, cloud or air-gapped, without migrating their code, CI and compliance workflows to get it. That's what we're building. Latest: about.gitlab.com/blog/scalin…
New on our Engineering blog: Creating in-house source control. In May, we merged around 2,500 code changes per day. In September, we merged more than 30,000 per day. As a result, we became bottlenecked by developer infrastructure built for human (rather than agent) scale. Here, we share how we built a new version control system—and fully migrated our monorepo from git—in five months: anthropic.com/engineering/re…

$GTLB first reaction on Anthropic news is obviously bad. After reading the thing it becomes quite clear that they won't offer what they build as a product, but guess who will?! The guy who built it (Nick G) is the same guy who has been working with $GTLB on "Next-Gen Source Code Management"...

all my 8 figure / month brands run applovin you're ignoring a massive chunk of your TAM if you're not running it once it scales, it'll take you somewhere meta alone never will the two biggest bottlenecks i see: - getting approved - not being willing to spend on testing i can solve both. my applovin rep gets ~95% of cases approved and can give you up to $20k in free credits to test plus, sign up through my rep and you get 5% unlimited cashback my rep's capacity is limited, so like this and DM me "applovin" and i'll connect you
Spent 4 Million on Applovin in the past 45 Days. This is my campaign setup.

Looks like the tide is turning a bit in $APP - Needham is out today saying quality over quantity. AppLovin onboarded three large advertisers over the past month $SHOO and Quince, both doing over $2B in GMV. This was the best month for quality advertiser sign-ups since the start of 2026. While NT financials won't see an immediate spike, these large accounts carry the potential to significantly scale up their advertising spend over time. Citi was positive yesterday as well. Might we see some bounce in this name?

Zack, I see why you connect those dots, but I have a different view. Competition for impressions is real. What I question is the implication that “Unity is doing well” leads to “that must be bad for AppLovin.” Take Google and Meta. They’ve been fierce competitors in digital advertising for over a decade. If you look only at their competition for advertiser budgets, it’s easy to assume that one’s gain must be the other’s loss. But together, they helped build an entire economy supported by online advertising. A business that finds its first customers through Google can grow into a major advertiser on Meta, and vice versa. Each benefits from businesses the other helped create and grow. They compete within that economy, while also making it bigger for each other. I think the same possibility exists here. When advertising works better, advertisers can grow their businesses. When developers earn more, they can invest in better games and apps. That creates more opportunity for everyone serving them. It doesn’t mean every company wins, or that competition is painless. But there is more to the story than dividing up a fixed pie. I’m deeply committed to outperforming our competitors. I also respect what they’re building, and I don’t wish them to fail. I want us to succeed by being better. There’s room to be ambitious for our own business and generous toward someone else’s success.

Culture before numbers Something happened yesterday that reminded me that some of the most valuable investment research doesn’t appear in a 10k. I wrote that we had tested $APP and ChatGPT ads for one of my businesses and the results were poor. A few people (🙏 @the_zack_zhu & @UvyatM), tagged @rfvivas, and not long afterward he messaged me and started asking questions about our experience. What interested me was not that he reached out. It was when he reached out and why. This was a Saturday afternoon, someone had publicly criticized his company’s product, and instead of ignoring it, or delegating it, he became curious. There was no prepared meeting and no obvious economic reason to care deeply about one relatively small advertiser. Yet he wanted to understand what went wrong. That is a tiny interaction, but tiny interactions can reveal how someone thinks when nobody is watching. Recently I had almost the opposite experience with @Stripe. We ran into a relatively straightforward problem, yet getting it solved through became incredibly difficult. Eventually I had to reach someone I knew close to the CEO to get the issue resolved. Another business I’m invested in recently had its $UBER Eats account hacked. After getting nowhere through the normal channels, I contacted Uber’s CFO @_balaji_km and he helped me almost immediately. Id like to publicly thank him because responsiveness from senior leadership may look trivial, but over time these little moments tell you something about the company. Obviously none of this means $APP or $UBER is automatically a great investment, nor does a frustrating experience with Stripe make it a bad company. That would be lazy analysis. But investing is ultimately the accumulation of lots of imperfect data points, and some of the most valuable ones are the ones you cannot extrapolate through reported numbers. Revenue growth, margins, free cash flow and returns on capital are all measurable. Curiosity, urgency, humility, obsession, responsiveness and the willingness of senior management to remain close to the customer are much harder to quantify, yet those qualities are often what create the financial metrics we spend so much time studying. Think about the sequence. A company that listens faster can learn faster, a company that learns faster can improve faster, and a company that improves faster can respond to competitors before the threat becomes obvious. Repeat that process many times across thousands of employees for ten years and what investors casually call “culture” eventually becomes market share, margins, retention and free cash flow. That is why I increasingly think of culture as a kind of invisible balance sheet. You cannot see it directly, but every day management is either depositing or withdrawing from it through the way people make decisions, respond to problems and treat customers. By the time the effects become obvious in the income statement, the real work may have been compounding for years. This is one of the limitations of purely quantitative investing. The spreadsheet is extraordinarily good at describing the business that already exists, but much less capable of describing the human machinery building the business that will exist ten years from now. Financial statements are often lagging indicators, while behavior can occasionally be a leading one. I think of experiences like these as qualitative breadcrumbs. One breadcrumb tells you nothing, but collect enough of them over a decade and you begin to understand how a business behaves behind the scenes. Sometimes that info becomes valuable long before Wall Street knows how to put a number on it. The best investors do not choose between quantitative and qualitative analysis. They understand the numbers, then keep searching for the things the numbers have not captured yet. Because sometimes the most important number in tomorrow’s financial statements begins as a behavior nobody thought was worth measuring today. 🌹
We tested both ChatGPT ads and $APP AppLovin ads for a small business I own. We lost money on both, the ROAS was terrible, and neither came remotely close to the results we get from $GOOG / $META. That doesn’t mean these platforms can’t improve. But it reminded me how difficult it is to build an advertising business that can reliably turn a dollar of ad spend into more than a dollar of profit on new customer acquisition. 🌹
