CBC Radio this morning explains how "food inflation" is highly subject to gas prices as everything in the food chain depends upon gas/diesel to reach consumers. The same CBC who spent a decade telling us massive carbon taxes on gas/diesel would have no impact on inflation.

"In a true Elbows Up move, the Carney government awarded the contract, worth close to $12 million, to Allied Universal rather than the Commissionaires.
It all appears to be part of a pattern of the Carney government saying one thing and doing another. A recent review of federal contracts awarded between March 2025, when Prime Minister Mark Carney was sworn in, and the end of July 2026 showed that lucrative contracts going to American companies increased."

Can you please enlighten us as to what exactly is wrong for an MP to advocate for Canadians?

Maybe, for once, we can stop framing the argument as an "immigration problem" but rather a "capacity problem" and put together practical solutions from there.
Facts are facts. For the last 11 years we imported population growth faster than we built homes, transit, schools, doctors, and hospitals to keep up. Now the Liberals new slogan is “more immigration plus more housing and we'll treat it like a serious plan. We mean it this time. Trust us." And while Liberals will surely pull another "it's not me; it's him. It's not him; it's her. It's not her; it's the other one" among each other in multiple levels of government as the explanation for how we got to here, the blame starts right at the top because they're the ones who issue the visas and the entry permissions along with the slogans and performative theatrics.
Stop it. How about build the housing and infrastructure first? THEN set immigration to what Canada can actually absorb.
Low fertility rates are real. So are rents, ER waits, and a chronic housing shortage. Pretending the second set of facts is secondary (if a consideration at all) is showing contempt for younger people, renters, hospital patients, and commuters. It's ruining our country. It's ruining the Canadian dream.
“It’s existential.” With no natural population growth coming, Canada needs more immigration to avoid incredible decline, which means that in addition to higher targets, we need more housing and social infrastructure. It’s as important as anything. thestar.com/opinion/canada-s…

SORRY IF THIS OFFENDS STORE MANAGERS, BUT I'M DONE.
I just pulled $140 worth of groceries off the shelf, carried them across the store, scanned every item myself at a self-checkout kiosk, bagged every single item, and tapped my own card.
Then the machine screen flipped around and asked:
"Would you like to round up your total to donate to corporate charity?"
ABSOLUTELY NOT.
You eliminated 12 cashier jobs to cut corporate payroll, forced me to provide free manual labor for 15 minutes just to buy food, and now you want ME to fund your tax write-off?
If I'm doing the work of an employee, give me a 10% self-checkout discount at checkout.
Stop asking for tips and donations at kiosks where I did 100% of the work.

Those two should know. They have an unhealthy obsession with Pierre and virtually ignore Carney.
So you’re going to increase immigration for jobs that require higher levels of education even though Canadians with higher levels of education already can’t find jobs?
New graduates from universities are already struggling.
We need to decrease immigration further to cope with the unimaginable numbers we’ve had in recent years and get back to stability before we can think about any increases.

I am truly interested in understanding why people support Mark Carney
I have heard people say it’s because of the way he speaks and because he is a banker. I honestly don’t care how good of a speaker someone is.
To me the main points that matter are:
-Our tax dollars are being spent wisely
-Our economy is doing well
-Our government has our best interest
I don’t see any evidence of that from Mark Carney or Justin Trudeau
So why do you support him?

If the Liberal Party wants to impose new immigration rules that will force young Canadians starting out their careers to compete with foreigners, without even requiring Canadian employers to prioritize the hiring of Canadian citizens, let's have an election so that the Carney government can have a clear and unambiguous mandate from voters to screw Canadian youth.
For a bunch of people my age who have benefited from a country that allowed us to build careers and lives without having to compete for jobs and promotions from foreign candidates to make immigration decisions that will utterly torpedo the career prospects of millions of Canadians 40 and under without a national debate or a mandate to do so is both cruel and wrong.
If voters in their wisdom believe that young Canadians are too stupid, too lazy or too irresponsible to be given a fighting chance to build the same careers I was without having to contend with unlimited numbers of applicants from outside the country (some of whom will receive Canadian-funded scholarships to attend the most competitive universities to do so), then let's have the debate and go into this abyss eyes wide open.
This is no longer just about giving large corporations the ability to bring in unlimited numbers of fast food workers. It is about making it even harder for young people who grew up in this country to join the middle class.
The old, ready excuse for unlimited immigration was that Canada had millions of jobs to fill that Canadians simply refused to do. That Canada didn't have enough fruit pickers and fast food workers willing to work minimum wage jobs because they were all going to work as IT workers, pilots, managers and engineers.
Now, the Carney government has blown that excuse out of the water.
If companies can't find enough Canadians to fill their high wage vacancies, they're either not paying enough or the education system has so utterly failed to produce enough qualified graduates to meet those needs. Either way, that should at least merit a national debate and a clear mandate from the people BEFORE a single new visa is approved.
The constant reaching for foreigners as the easy solution deserves a national discussion not for old people like me but for young people who we all have seen struggle to live the type of life I've and we've enjoyed.
So let's have an election on this issue and get it over with. This isn't about whether Canada should or shouldn't be the 51st state. This is about whether Canada has a place for its young people today.

And how will we house them? What makes you think jobs are available? The only way to do that is to move current Canadians out of the workforce in favor of lower wages for immigrants. That's what will happen. Employers will offer jobs at lower wages and immigrants will take them. All while living in a house with 5 other families.

WTF are you talking about, The Economist?
Mark Carney is a career technocrat who seems to impress the international establishment far more than he impresses me.
Canada has serious problems with productivity, investment, affordability and economic competitiveness. We just lost roughly 110,000 jobs in August and September. Yet we’re supposed to believe Carney is some sort of model for the rest of the world?
I’ve spent most of my life running businesses. I learned long ago that credentials, polished speeches and grand promises mean very little without results.
Carney may know how to impress the Davos crowd, but Canadians need a functioning economy, productive investment and rising living standards.
Smaller countries should certainly learn from Canada. They should learn what happens when governments put too much faith in technocrats and too little faith in the people who actually create wealth.
Stop celebrating the resume. Start measuring the results. FFS.
Smaller countries need to prepare for a dangerous world. They should look to Canada (and its prime minister) for an answer on what to do bit.ly/4zwKfVg
