i was getting KILLED for suggesting it wasn’t payton’s decision when it happened

Week 1 isn’t the end all, be all. But there can be potential signs with units and teams and what’s to come.
The Broncos got off to a shaky start, but even going past just the results, I had questions on how the Broncos used their personnel (and I mean more than just Waddle’s quiet night).
An example was the lack of movement throws for Bo Nix.
Football 301’s week 2 preview features a 30 minute deep dive on Jaguars-Broncos.
Safe to say @MattHarmon_BYB & I were pretty excited to break this game down.

After getting through the offense tape I feel better about Webb’s calls last night but a little bit more worried going forward. He caught the defense in some favorable looks and had some beaters for them. Did some creative things with Waddle and was using the receivers in ways that best suit their skill sets.
But the offense was lacking some details that makeup an offensive foundation and leave some tells. There were a handful of plays that they were just not ready for pressure and there were no hot options for Nix to get to. There also was very little sequencing, partly due to going down big to start the second half, but in the first half the imbalance made the offense feel a bit more like a collection of plays thrown together instead of an actual plan. Even when they went under-center their boot action plays didn’t look like their runs and vice versa.
also this defense was bad against every serious team last year and they made zero additions and kept everybody lol
glad a portion of this fanbase gets to see sean payton wasn’t just an anchor holding back an electric offense

I really disagree here
4 of Bo’s first 5 attempts were:
1. Deep outbreaker to Sutton on opposite hash
2. Seam ball to Waddle
3. Back-shoulder to Sutton
5. RZ wheel route to the RB between S and manned-up LB
Webb put a good bit on Nix’s plate, and I think that’s EXCITING

Missed this from the athletic @NickKosmider a few days ago.
Easily the quote thats fired me up the most this training camp
I have a feeling that more Evan Engram blocking is not a good thing for an offense
Bo Nix on Evan Engram, via @christomasson:
"I think last year we used him a little bit more as a vertical pass threat, but I think him getting in the box and blocking is going to open more things up … I think that’s part of his game that he’s going to really be able to show off this year and not be on and off the field."
I supported the Barron pick at the time but if he can’t be a top 3 (or maybe even 4 based on the BUF game) corner on the team through two years that’s horrible return on a top 20 pick
Brandon rates Luke Wattenberg as the sixth best center in the NFL rate now.
Continues to be one of if not the most underrated players on the team.
This was the biggest offensive line project I've ever undertaken.

Great article, and the piece about the long term concern over Bo’s ankle certainly concerns me as well.
One July day in Alabama, Bo Nix was working deep balls w/trainer Ben Neill.
Neill asked if Nix was excited to throw those to Jaylen Waddle.
"(Bo's) like, ‘Yeah, I might have to get it out a little earlier. That guy walks fast.'”

If they don’t cut him today they can save the whole “character matters, we only draft high character guys” BS.
Even if he didn’t do it (which it very much seems he did), going back to her home off of everything that happened should be enough to cut him.
From an updated affidavit obtained by @denverpost on assault charges for Jonathon Cooper levied Wednesday:
A nurse who evaluated Cooper's girlfriend after original altercation wrote that she sustained "a substantial risk of death" and "strangulation with hypoxia."
what an idiot
News: #Broncos OLB Jonathon Cooper was arrested again Thursday night by Parker PD, according to Douglas County court records. Currently in custody.
Arrested on charges of domestic violence, violating a civil protection order and harassment (repeated phone calls), record show.

ESPN sources: The Broncos and Sean Payton have reached agreement on a new five-year contract.
Payton has led the Broncos to the third-most wins in the NFL over the past two years, including an AFC Championship Game appearance last season.
Now, Broncos owner Greg Penner has both his HC and GM George Paton under contract through the 2030 season, with stability across his football operations.
