Now we have Kiev. Its apparently now Keev. one syllable. I grew up thinking it was KeyEhv. Nope. KEEV!!!!!
With Ukraine in the news constantly...can someone tell me when the collective media shifted the stressed syllable from the second to the first? It's all "YOU"kraine. I've also noticed some pundits adding a syllable in Ukrainian. It becomes Uk(er)rainian.
