Shoutout to the staff for the summer. You are only as good as the people you surround yourself with. They put the work in, pushed the standard, and our results show it. Excited to watch our team this season because of their work behind the scenes. Love these guys

My all-time favorite quote/scripture for S&C coaching is
“You can’t be a prophet in your own town.”
Parents/Coaches/Athletes rarely think the coach they have is better than the guy down the street or a state away. Their word means more. No matter the results you’ve built.

SARK ON CULTURE
"It is not a sign in your building. It's not a t-shirt you wear. It's not breaking the team down & saying Culture on 3 ... Who you are some of the time is who you are all of the time."
Culture is lived out on a daily basis.

Geno Auriemma was asked how every single player on his team is so enthusiastic.
He gave an answer that every young athlete should hear 👏

Dean Smith said, "A leader's job is to develop committed followers. Bad leaders destroy their followers' sense of commitment."
Leaders develop commitment through their actions.
• They care.
• They lead by example.
• They build relationships.
How to Lead by Example:
1. Don't just tell people to work harder, show them how.
2. Don't just tell people to have a great attitude, display one.
3. Don't just accept the status quo, create change.
4. Don't just expect teamwork, collaborate.
5. Don't just preach adaptability, embrace change willingly.
6. Don't just talk about integrity, be a person of character.
7. Don't just emphasize growth, invest in continuous learning.
8. Don't just demand accountability, take responsibility for your actions.
Great leaders build commitment by rolling up their sleeves and demonstrating their own dedication and effort.
They lead by their example.
By being the person you want to work with, leaders build trust, motivate, and create an environment where everyone feels encouraged to give their best.

Student-athletes who skip class, hide in the weight room, disrespect teachers, and make excuses are bad teammates. How you do one thing, is how you’ll do everything. You can’t flip the switch. Being a winner is about being consistently good.

“It’s not culture’s job to make people feel good. A lot of times the things that feel good don't help us win. A weak culture prioritizes that you’ve got to feel good all the time. It says, ‘If it doesn’t feel good, don’t do it.’ It means the culture is unwilling to sit in the discomfort that growth requires.
There’s too much culture being taught as all trust falls and hugs. The purpose of culture is to drive the behavior that wins. That’s it. That’s culture’s job. Now, the behavior that wins is what we have to identify.
Whatever behaviors we identify to help us work together and win, the question is ‘Does our culture demand that? Does our culture drive that?’”

Trust is the currency of leadership. If your people don’t trust you they won’t follow you.
