“Politics should stay out of football”… It was our party which did the exact opposite and created the regulator. Some of us tried to do everything to stop it to no avail. As for the post holder - it was always going to be the case.

4) The self styled regulator. Who is the person? What powers? Why does it have this power? Any regulator will be a politically motivated appointment.
Spoiler: this is a plum job you hand to an unhappy grandee MP or connected Peer. What do these people know about football?

Reveals much about elites like Burnham to assume football fans want this. Flying beer will make away ends intolerable, and grounds will face cost to create exclusion/inclusion zones. 45 minutes without a beer is not a hardship. Reminds me of when smoking was allowed. Crazy policy

Rubbish like this distracts from the actual problems with ticketing at MUFC. You have months to decide which cups, if any, you want to purchase.
Replying to @StreetwisestuV2
Looks fake. Even if real your friend has opted in, deprived a fan of a cup season ticket and then not paid for it. Much to moan about re ticketing but this is not one. You had months to opt out.
Replying to @HLTCO
Looks fake as not the usual ticketing website. If real he opted in for cup games which was his decision. Opt out is default. Once opted in he has taken a cup season ticket out of the pot which would have been snapped up by a fan as it is the gateway to a full season ticket.

Was Mandelson was subjected to intense scrutiny of personal finances such as bank statements? Or asked to hand over personal devices (albeit he claims to have destroyed the email address). So No10 received the only ‘file’ they ever could which was a cuts pack.

Perhaps but the perception is of insufficient curiosity and lack of political cover for a full sweep. The vetting carried out was light touch, open source and a tick box exercise. Authorities were, it seems, working towards “get us to yes” rather than “find us red flags”.

For a very (very) brief period I was extremely fortunate to work with the football industry on what a long term settlement between football and government could look like.
Many of the proposals put forward are overdue, needed and in line with what had been planned. However…
The UK government has announced its plans to have an independent regulator for English football ahead of tomorrow’s release of the white paper on the game’s governance.

I am obsessed. The dialogue belongs on the West End one day. I've created all sorts of sub plots in my head.

It is of course perfectly legitimate to think state ownership should be banned. However on your last point: look at Derby County. That was a perfect takeover in theory. All his own money, local businessman, no criminal record etc. Disaster. Hard to rule for incompetence.
I hope the tripartite football family of FA, EPL and EFL now use this threat to finally come up with a workable model of their own so that football continues to be run by those with expertise, not MPs looking for a retirement gig.
Supporters should ask these questions. As a supporter I am deeply concerned that in half a dozen years the football industry could be run by some nitwit appointed in a back room stitch up with no accountability taking us back to the 60s.
The Premier League is the crown jewel of Global Britain whilst the EFL represents the soul and spirit of our country in every town, village and community. Both are without equal and meddling could produce terrible unintended consequences.
