A #USArmy legend has passed.
World War II veteran Vincent Speranza died Wednesday at the age of 98.
While he served as a paratrooper and machine gunner, he may be best known for bringing his wounded comrades a helmet full of beer while besieged in Bastogne.
We are saddened by the passing of Vincent Speranza, who served in the @101stAASLTDIV during #WWII. Seeing combat during the Battle of the Bulge where the #101st became famous for defending Bastogne. Once a Screaming Eagle ALWAYS A SCREAMING EAGLE! Rest in Peace Vinny

Today is the 40th anniversary of the Department of the Army authorizing a Special Forces tab for wear by qualified soldiers. On June 17, 1983, soldiers who earned their Green Beret also earned the tab that bore the same colors as those used for SF Shoulder Sleeve Insignia.
