The first 12 victims in the Broad Arrow Cafe were killed in just 15 seconds with single shots to the head fired from the right hip at devastating speed and accuracy. 20 people in total were killed inside the cafe within 90 seconds.

Australia exports crude. It imports the petrol, diesel and jet fuel that actually run the country. We went from 8 refineries to 2. The rest became import terminals.
Domestic plants now cover about 20% of refined fuel — and most of that is still made from imported crude. Fuel refined here from Australian oil is only a few percent of demand. Governments treated cheaper Asian mega-refineries as an efficiency win. Then the last two plants needed taxpayer subsidies to stay open, stocks are measured in weeks, and one fire or a blocked shipping lane hits mining, freight, aviation and Defence at once.That’s the snooker: you can’t rebuild industrial capacity after you’ve already shut it.
Approximate annual liquid-fuel use (recent available years)
1. Qantas Group — ~4.5–4.8 billion litres (mostly jet fuel, domestic + international operations).
