It is the lived experience of a teacher in Bloomfield Hills when El-Sayed's stepmother, Dr. Jacqueline El-Sayed, who raised him, served on the school board. This is from a public post on Facebook/Meta: ". . . .this man does not try to hide who he is. I taught while he was a student in Bloomfield Hills schools. His mother sat on the school board, and because of her, we were not allowed to speak about 9/11 with students. We could offer a moment of silence and then were mandated to move on with our lesson plan (which had to be unrelated to the terrorist attacks).
