Kalshi is gambling. Calling it something else doesn’t change what it is. We’ve held the line against gambling since statehood, and we’re not backing down. I applaud @UtahAG Derek Brown and his team for defending Utah’s right to enforce our laws and taking action against Kalshi today. They have our full support as they work to protect Utah families and hold these companies accountable.
Utah sues Kalshi, seeking up to $60 million in profit made off of Utahns “These companies, they’re not your friends,” said @AGDerekBrown. “They’re not helping you invest, they’re not providing you with insights or opportunity. Frankly, they are engineered to do one thing and one thing alone: empty your wallet.” abc4.com/news/politics/utah-…

All of us can receive divine direction for our lives. If you are doing your best to honor the covenants you have made with your Heavenly Father, you can act in faith knowing that you will receive His guidance in your life. I was pleased to share my thoughts on this during a conversation with the director of social media for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints during my time at BYU-Idaho last week.

I have spent my entire adult life with young people—including seven-and-a-half years as president of BYU-Idaho. Susan and I are beyond thrilled to participate in activities this week at the university as we commemorate the 25th anniversary of this remarkable institution of higher education. You students at BYU-I (@byuidaho) and our other young members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are wonderful disciples of the Savior. Please do not be too hard on yourselves. Be worthy. Be available. Put the Lord first and all the other parts of life will fall into place.

As a young missionary, Elder Bednar sat in a training meeting with President Harold B. Lee held in the solemn assembly room of the Salt Lake Temple. About 300 missionaries were invited to ask him questions. It was a master class for Elder Bednar. “If he couldn’t answer it that way, he said— I don’t know. I can’t find it in the revelations and I won’t speculate.” Can you imagine how powerful we, as a people would become if we ignored the endless speculation that surrounds us, and focused our full attention ONLY on what we know to be the word of God? Speculating is interesting, and profitable for those who engage in it, but dangerous. The word of God is what will bring us directly to Jesus Christ, and help us become a holy people. Much to be learned from this short clip!

Susan and I were overwhelmed by the love we felt as we looked back on the first 25 years of BYU-Idaho (@byuidaho) this weekend. And while we appreciate the past, let us also embrace the future as disciples of Jesus Christ and witnesses of the kingdom of God rollingforth in all the world.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints currently has 385 total temples, including 222 dedicated temples, 13 scheduled for dedication, 53 under construction and seven scheduled for groundbreaking. The 90 temples in planning and design complete the total of 385. These six maps show the status of each house of the Lord around the world. “It is amazing to see firsthand the construction and dedication of these new temples — sometimes two on the same day. We are grateful for the spiritual guidance President Dallin H. Oaks is receiving as the hastening of God’s work continues in a dramatic fashion," Elder Quentin L. Cook of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles told the Church News. 📸: Church News graphics Read more in the thread below.

Jesus Christ has done everything necessary for you, for us, to have joy in this life and forever. Even when we make mistakes and feel discouraged or wonder if we will ever be good enough. There is good news—wonderful, hopeful news! Because God loves us, He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, who took upon Himself our sins so we can repent, be forgiven, and keep progressing. #GeneralConference

Jesus Christ lives and loves to lift. As a teen learning to fly a two-seat glider, I learned the crucial skill in gliding is finding rising air, otherwise known as “lift.” You cannot see it, but you can see what it does. Just as there is rising air, there is sinking air, called “sink.” It likewise cannot be seen, but it can be felt, and I quickly learned to avoid it. During my journey of faith, I recognised that the principles of gliding I had learned in my teens have significant similarities with spiritual principles: We must avoid sink and find lift. Spiritual lift cannot be seen or touched, but as we learn to discern and act upon the sensitive impressions of the Holy Spirit, we can feel it—as surely as I felt the rising air lift a wing beneath me. When we first experience lift, it is wondrous. We may feel a soul-expanding lightness of being unlike anything we’ve ever experienced. Pay close attention to the sweet, peaceful feelings that come when you choose spiritual lift, the rising forces that bring you into the Saviour’s loving upward pull. Likewise, pay attention to the dim and dampening feelings that lead away from the Redeemer and His infinite love. We can learn to live in spiritual lift. And when we sink, our gentle Saviour is there to lift us up as we turn to Him. Your Saviour is your lift. He is your ever-rising air. There is no limit to how high you can climb with Him. #GeneralConference "Finisher of Faith" by Kelsy and Jesse Lightweave

All human circumstances are within the Savior’s redemptive reach. The Atonement of Jesus Christ permitted our Heavenly Father to give the Savior all power “in heaven and in earth” (Matthew 28:18). The power of the Messiah to save and exalt is profoundly intimate and infinite beyond human comprehension; there is more than enough to cover any breach, need, or deficit for all of us, for each of us. When I consider what Jesus Christ has done for us, I do not think we want Him asking us, “How long will it be ere [you] believe me?” (Numbers 14:11). Strive to remember all the times He has inclined His ear unto you. #GeneralConference

Lifelong disciples of Jesus Christ best reflect the Savior’s teaching and direction when they joyfully live lives of integrity and virtue. The virtuous Christlike life necessary to sustain us and propel us along the covenant path has never been more important or challenging. What we are seeing in society and social media today is conduct and language that is often coarse and crude and lacks virtue. Any use of the internet to bully, destroy a reputation, or place a person in a bad light is reprehensible. It is clear, evil communications are not just a matter of bad manners. If practiced by Latter-day Saints, they can adversely affect others who do not have a knowledge of God or a testimony of our Savior. We cannot control the conduct of others, but we can strive to be a peaceable people who live in accordance with the Christlike conduct and virtues taught by our Savior, Jesus Christ. The Lord wants us to experience the joy of a virtuous life. He provides us with many beautiful gifts both physical and spiritual. Those who make sacrifices in His name will be richly rewarded. #GeneralConference "Road to Emmaus" by Wendy Keller Image courtesy of Havenlight

Many of our hearts ache for loved ones who have stepped away from obedience to God’s laws. In our grief, we continuously ponder the whys, hows, and what ifs. We feel we have failed. We preach, teach, and invite—but often to no avail. By divine design, brothers and sisters, everyone must choose for themselves to follow Jesus Christ. I ask you to turn over to Jesus Christ your despair for those wayward souls. We cannot change their hearts, but He can; He is a God of miracles. Our Savior has already paid for the sins and errant choices of all of God’s children, including those for whom you and I grieve. He knows them. He knows their hearts; He loves them. He gave His very life to bring them home, all the way home. By the power of Jesus Christ’s Atonement, there is always a way back! In the vernacular, the Savior says to all who grieve, “I’ve got this!” Never, never, give up on those you love. Remember Jesus Christ is the answer. He is, always has been, and always will be. Trust Him. He’s got this! #GeneralConference
