There is a very different energy in Bihar right now, and I felt it strongly on this visit.
For perhaps the first time in years, political gossip and competitive exams no longer seemed to dominate every tea-stall conversation. People were talking about homes, cars, businesses, lifestyle, investments and where the next opportunity would come from.
That may sound trivial elsewhere. In Bihar, it is not.
This was, for a very long period of Indian history, one of the richest and most consequential regions of the subcontinent. The poverty and humiliation of the last 70-80 years are the anomaly, not the civilisational default. Somewhere inside every Bihari, I think that older memory survives.
And this time, it felt like it was beginning to wake up.
A generation spent leaving Bihar to work elsewhere, often doing the hardest jobs for the least respect. That has taken a toll. Millennials are increasingly putting money back into their hometowns, while Gen Z seems far less willing to accept that success automatically requires a one-way ticket out of the state.
The opportunities are still nowhere near enough.
But the mindset has changed before the economy has fully caught up.
That matters.
Patna itself looks dramatically different. JP Ganga Path, the so-called Marine Drive, looks so futuristic in parts that it feels AI-generated. Atal Path cuts through the city cleanly and efficiently. Defenders and BMW i7s no longer look like alien objects on Patna roads.
Even traffic surprised me.
Cars that once crawled through chaos are now moving at ridiculous speeds, and at multiple crossings I saw people stopping at red lights despite no traffic policeman standing there.
For Bihar, that is not a small behavioural change. That is civilisation.
Then came the highways.
I did roughly 500 kilometres from Patna to Kaimur and back, leaving around 5 AM and returning by 6 PM. I could almost count the potholes on one hand.
That sentence would have sounded like satire twenty years ago.
The social change was even more striking during Durga Puja. Women were everywhere, moving around freely, late into the evening, without that old visible anxiety of constantly looking over their shoulders.
Police deployment was heavy, but what struck me was how little it seemed to matter. Men were mostly doing what normal men at a Puja should be doing: moving from pandal to pandal, bowing before the deity, collecting prasad and getting on with their lives.
Again, this should be completely ordinary.
In Bihar, the fact that it now feels ordinary is extraordinary.
Then there is commerce.
While scouting for a warehouse in Bihta, a local builder showed me the new warehousing clusters coming up around the area, including facilities linked to companies such as Amazon and Blinkit.
Big companies do not invest in nostalgia.
They invest where they expect consumption, logistics and purchasing power to grow.
And that is why I think Bihar is much closer to a serious breakout than most Indians realise.
Governance has improved, infrastructure has improved, law and order has improved, but the biggest change is psychological.
Biharis seem tired of being treated as labour for somebody else’s growth story.
At the current pace of urbanisation and capital returning home, I genuinely think the reclamation is less than a decade away.
And when Bihar finally arrives, I suspect a lot of people who have spent decades laughing at it will discover something uncomfortable.
They were laughing at a sleeping giant.

That Gen Z is the first generation that is dumber than its predecessors is no longer an opinion. It is scientifically established, as is the cause.
Listen to neuroscientist, educator and bestselling author who specialises in human learning and brain development, Dr Jared Cooney Horvath:

His work was funded by Ford Foundation and McArthur Foundation. How many million years would it take to those "100 workers" to match billionaires like Henry Ford and John McArthur? Or is this calculation meant only for the non-white billionaires? Saving Indian souls - backed by western business - is a very old game.....

CAUGHT RED-HANDED: In my new investigation @FoxNews Digital, I lay bare the invisible (red) hand behind the communist-led protests spreading from France to Belgium. Next: India. I encourage you to read the full story so you can know all of the players: foxnews.com/world/behind-fra…
A Fox News Digital investigation traces how France's student protests over education cuts are being hijacked by a sprawling network of communist activists, labor unions and far-left political parties — all amplified by a transnational propaganda machine funded by Neville Roy Singham, an American-born tech tycoon based in China who supports the Chinese Communist Party.
Fox News Digital's senior editor of investigations @AsraNomani tracked 50 groups in a 'red-green alliance' involved in a transnational network organizing, promoting and amplifying the student protests in France.
– Only 15 groups, or 1 of 3, is a youth student group
The 35 other groups for adults are all left-leaning.
– 12 labor groups
– 8 communist or socialist organizations
– 5 civil-rights and human-rights groups
– 5 groups focused on issues from taxes to media
– 4 political parties, including La France insoumise and French Communist Party
– 1 Palestinian advocacy group
On the ground in Paris, the hammer and sickle flies alongside Palestinian flags. The French Communist Party's national secretary poses with protesters. Far-left politicians from La France Insoumise pose for photos with students.
Groups like the Young Communists Movement of France march behind bright red banners reading "Class War" and demanding an end to "Imperialist Wars."
"What we're seeing here is the same Red-Green ecosystem that disrupts infrastructure chokeholds in our country such as the Brooklyn Bridge, college campuses and congressional hearings," says Heritage Foundation senior fellow Mike Gonzalez @Gundisalvus.
In the U.S., BreakThrough News — a pro-communist outlet in the Singham network — pushes the protests to a global audience, racking up hundreds of thousands of likes, including from influencer Hasan Piker, on dramatic anti-police clips while laying the groundwork for the next student explosion, this time in India.

Trustee cum Secretary of Shri Somnath Trust in a recent podcast said Somnath temple was attacked as invaders were attracted by its treasure !!
Trustee Secretary, a retired IAS officer, ignores the fact that religious zeal of Mahmud Ghazni and others was a driving force. By skipping this key civilizational aspect, he furthers a false narrative that has been engineered and attempted by leftist 'historians'.
Ghaznavid court historian Al-Utbi explicitly documented Mahmud's campaigns in India as holy wars (jihad) intended to destroy non-Islamic religious centers of idol-worship.
Later Persian historical traditions, recorded by chroniclers like Firishta reads, when the temple priests (pujaris) offered Mahmud immense riches and gold if he would spare the sacred Shiva Lingam, Mahmud refused, famously declaring that he would rather be remembered by history as an "idol-breaker" (butshikan) rather than an "idol-seller" (butfarosh).
Chroniclers record that fragments of the shattered Somnath Shiva Lingam were transported back to Ghazni and sent to holy Islamic cities like Mecca and Medina. These fragments were deliberately embedded into the footsteps of major mosques and the Sultan's palace so that worshippers would tread upon them. This calculated act of religious subjugation went far beyond the economic needs of an empire; it was designed as a potent theological and psychological statement of Islamic dominance over polytheism.
(Chronicles by Farrukhi Sistani, Abu Sa'id Gardezi, Al-Biruni, Ibn al-Athir)
Trustee Secretary further says that Somnath temple was repeatedly destructed by Muslim Nawabs and Mughal rulers as they were upset that every time after its destruction, Somnath temple was rebuilt quickly in couple of years or so.
The fact is the driving force behind every destruction was religious exlusivism, and fanaticism associated to it, and not quick reconstructions. For example the details of the last destruction of Somnath temple under Aurangzeb deshgujarat.com/2017/08/13/s… The other attacks on Somnath were also on this line. Not quick reconstruction but religious warfare and Jihad were responsible.

May be certain stretches needs to be fenced where chances of stray animal coming on highways is high, this is epic tragedy
A Range Rover Discovery was cruising on the Bharatmala Expressway near Tharad in North Gujarat when a stray bull suddenly came into its path.
The SUV hit the animal, killing two people and leaving another critically injured.
One of the solidly built SUVs, on a modern expressway, yet a stray bull claimed two lives.
The SUV had Rajkot RTO passing. Victim youths were from Rajkot and Amreli. The incident happened on Sunday.
Clarity on some basics of conventional practice for your benefit. India strategically deploys its junior-most diplomats at the United Nations Permanent Mission to deliver its "Right of Reply" (RoR) against Pakistan.
The core tactical reason is the asymmetry in protocol. When Pakistan's Head of Government (such as the Prime Minister) delivers a speech attacking India, New Delhi chooses not to field its Prime Minister, Foreign Minister, or even the Permanent Representative to respond.
Instead, by pitching a junior First or Third Secretary against a Head of State, India sends a clear message that it does not consider Pakistan's allegations worthy of a high-level response. This subtly downgrades the diplomatic weight of Pakistan's political leadership on the global stage.
