I've just completed the migration of fastretro.app from Laravel and React to vanilla Rails. With it I shipped a new design, a new user system, excel exports and it's now published the new O'Saasy license from @dhh @jasonfried @basecamp

The screenshot shows a fabricated vulgar exchange between @Deepseek and @AnthropicAI that does not exist on X. DeepSeek's official account is @deepseek_ai, and neither company posts in this manner. The image is from a satirical fake Twitter clone.

An M5 MacBook Pro with 64 GB of RAM isn't enough to work properly if you use AI heavily. Too many builds, simulators, and tests run in parallel.
I think the play is to bring compute online by using your old gaming hardware. All connected with Comet Pro.
I will test this now by adding 32 GB of RAM and an i7 of the 10th generation to offload some Android, Rails, and Docker builds too

If you haven't accepted that these things are smarter than you, even in your own domain of expertise, I'm sorry. And if you have, but still believe you should be making all the meaty calls in that domain, I'm sorry too. Both are hard pills to swallow.
Many saw this coming earlier, but the turning point for me was the Fable/Astra generation. Until then, I was in a comfortable sweet spot: an expert who still knew better, but who could leverage the amazing acceleration agents brought.
After that, well, once reality sank in, embracing it wasn't that hard. Suddenly, you're in a whole new greenfield where anything feels possible, and your experience gives you a head start.
I think this click moment will come for everyone. Some have already had it, and many others haven't yet. But reality catches up, sooner or later.
And remember, Fable/Astra will be rusty, outdated models tomorrow. Keep that in mind when placing your bets.

Marc Andreessen on why he thinks Europe actually wants to be left behind on AI
"Europe seems, I just take them at their word, determined to be left behind. They seem enthusiastic about being left behind. They seem to really badly want that"
"25 years ago, if you did a list of the 50 biggest tech companies in the world, a pretty significant number were European, probably 15 of the top 50. Today you're basically down to Spotify. Which is great. I love Spotify"
"I think they would be very happy if AI didn't happen inside the EU. I think they'd be very happy if social media didn't exist. I think they'd be quite happy to shut up the internet"

Introducing Muse Wonder, our new family of frontier models with state of the art performance for personal and professional agentic work.
it’s clear we need to retire the term vibe coding because the models now produce better architecture & way more coherent code than an average software engineer.
perhaps even better than top software engineers too because unlike a human, ai has a much much larger context window.
this ain’t vibe coding at all. it’s precision engineering.

a retard in motion is better than a genius at rest
the problem is that nowadays there are too many retards at rest
My printer hasn't worked over wifi since 2016. After the latest macOS update, it stopped working via USB too.
I was about to order a new printer, but Codex 1 shot USB drivers for it.
Then I asked it if it could fix wifi too. It wrote a mac os app to connect it.
Now it prints wirelessly again, even from my iPhone.
We really live in the best times.
What perfectly good device have you lost to abandoned software?
