My debut novel is born today.
It’s funny. It’s heartwarming. Writing it felt like magic.
I hope you’ll give it a chance and share it if you love it.

Loves, my account will be dormant. I make this personal decision because being here has increasingly felt like I'm part of something very ugly. I tell you this so if you'd like to know about my newsletter, novels, column, gift guides, projects, you can find me elsewhere. 💛🖤
Seemed like a good day to publish a new edition of my newsletter. In your inboxes, loves. Go take a breather and read the Burghy goodness.
When you think of everything his father stood for. Fought for. Said. Did. Believed. Wanted.
This saddens me.
Good morning, Pittsburgh! I remain incredibly busy with little time to write, but I’m posting my extremely popular world famous annual Yinzer Holiday Gift Guide in just a few weeks! Get your suggestions to me via DM (easier to track). (1/2)

NEW: Donald Trump has officially announced a rally at PPG Paints in Pittsburgh on Monday. He's scheduled to speak at 6 pm, similar time to Kamala Harris, who is holding a rally just 1 mile away. It could be dueling rallies if both candidates are on time! triblive.com/news/politics-e…
Scirotto called his deal with Gainey re: returning to NCAA reffing after one year an incentived "man-to-man agreement," and therefore one the public didn't need to know about. The more details that come out, the worse both he and the mayor look. Fully embarrassing for the city.
In an epic feat of self-sabotage, I bought a 36-pack of my absolute favorite candy, Giant Chewy SweeTarts, and only one kid has taken a pack. It’s over for me 😭😭😭😭

In the tradition of dressing up as a hyper-local Pittsburgh lore & regional reference.
I am the ghost of the Butthole Window on Penn Ave at Friendship Ave.

Absolutely bonkers if the city hired a police chief while telling him he could also work as a traveling NCAA basketball referee after one year. This isn’t Somerset; it’s a world-class city. That he even asked about eventually returning to reffing should’ve been a giant red flag.
Reading this passage in an Auschwitz survivor’s book that is required reading for my current grad class was honestly so chilling this particular morning. Wow.

We have been hard at work building the Remains to be Seen app which will map out Pittsburgh's history for you and allow you to build walking/biking tours. As we gear up for beta testing, tell me what features you would most want. Give me your ideas and be specific, loves!
Didn't want this day to pass without naming the Tree of Life victims: Joyce Fienberg, Richard Gottfried, Rose Mallinger, Jerry Rabinowitz, Cecil & David Rosenthal, Bernice & Sylvan Simon, Daniel Stein, Melvin Wax, Irving Younger.
Much love to those who loved and lost them.

Pittsburgh, stop what you are doing and go watch this 1930s video showing every attraction at Kennywood including the Racer, Jack Rabbit and rides/attractions that aren't there anymore like the pool and athletic grounds. I nearly exploded from happiness.
