✅ New global standards for palliative RT endpoints for clinical trials on bone metastases! In partnership with representatives from @ASTRO_org, @ESTRO_RT, @RANZCRcollege & @CARO_acro_ca - we conducted a Delphi study; full consensus via @RO_GreenJournal: authors.elsevier.com/c/1mAHT…
Our meta-analysis in @BMJOncology demonstrated that #loneliness and social isolation may be associated with ⬆️ all-cause and cancer-specific mortality in patients with cancer; a follow-up study is currently underway to identify targeted interventions @BCCancer
📣 Impact of loneliness on cancer mortality: a systematic review and meta- analysis
“Psychosocially, the unique burden of cancer survivorship often includes forms of isolation stemming directly from disease and treatment experiences, including the inability of loved ones to fully understand cancer-associated fears, stigma around visible treatment effects, and survivorship-related anxieties."

Our meta-analysis on the impact of biologically effective dose and dose-rate in #GammaKnife radiosurgery in trigeminal neuralgia is in @Advances_ASTRO! @MichaelYanMD @detsang @UofTDRO
We use some 👻🎃scary high🧙♀️☠️radiation doses when treating trigeminal neuralgia (TN) to reduce those pain ⚡️jolts!
@janeJomy & team conducted this systemic review and meta-analysis of 8 publications including close to 2,600 patients!
They found:
✅higher dose rate➡️higher pain relief
✅BED may be correlated with pain relief BUT ☠️possibly related to increased sensory dysfunction

It was a pleasure to moderate the ‘Virtual Clinical Medical Education’ session; Dr. Ahmed Moussa presented on how they used 360-degree virtual reality to teach neonatal resuscitation, which demanded less cognitive load on participants compared to textbook learning #ICAM2024 (1/4)
Dr. Meera Anand @UBCFamPractice assessed pre-clerkship medical student experiences with telehealth learning using a constructivism lens; students were unable to practice physical exam skills, had less rapport with patients, but had more organized notes/frameworks #ICAM2024 (4/4)
