Every good experience I’ve had as a Love and Deepspace player has now become permanently tainted for me. This company has lost what made them their $40M monthly average in the first place: emotional attachment. LaDs sells its consumers a virtual companion—love, comfort, and emotional attachment. When that comfort is abruptly taken away, the attraction toward the game naturally becomes docile. That’s especially damaging for a corporation whose entire business model relies heavily on marketing parasocial relationships between players and its characters. I am so utterly heartbroken that as a barely 3 year old game, it has already met its downfall, one that their own domestic consumers contributed towards. Even if Valko is never returned, they may eventually stabilize at a $20M monthly average with the playerbase that stayed behind. But revenue doesn’t equal profit, nor does every dollar go directly back into the game. That money is distributed across the multiple departments, facilities, employees, and production pipelines responsible for maintaining the quality and quantity of its content. The content we’re seeing throughout 2026 is still incredibly high quality because much of it was created 9–12 months in advance, during a period when the game was consistently making $40 Million+ per month. Meanwhile, 2027 content is likely already in production as we speak, content they’re likely producing under the current revenue trend. If this lower revenue becomes the game’s longterm reality, I think the consequences will become much more noticeable around mid to late 2027: reduced production budgets, less high quality or ambitious/innovative updates, lower content quantity, and potentially less free content as the company adjusts its spending to match its new revenue baseline. They built LaDs around emotional attachment. They shouldn’t be surprised when breaking that attachment changes how willing players are to spend.
