The statue is sponsored by the Anglo Norwegian Resistance Commemoration Project (ANRCP), of which HRH is a Patron, which seeks to increase awareness of the cooperation between SOE, SIS and the many Norwegian resistance fighters who worked to liberate Norway from German occupation

βThis statue is of historic significance, for several reasonsβ
This week The Princess Royal and Foreign Minister @EspenBarthEide unveiled the statue βCoastwatchersβ at Normandieplassen in Oslo, commemorating the close #UKandNorway intelligence cooperation during WW2.
An honour to host The Princess Royal in Oslo, following her visit in 2024 and return last month for the funeral of King Harald.
Her visit reflects the close and longstanding ties between the British and Norwegian Royal Families, and the strong friendship between our countries.
While in Norway, we had the pleasure of hosting The Princess Royal at the Residence.
From defence to energy, the reception brought together guests integral to the #UKandNorway relationship, each contributing in their own sector to our shared prosperity.
Delighted to welcome HRH The Princess Royal back to Norway.
As Patron of the Anglo-Norwegian Resistance Commemoration Project, HRHβs visit will pay tribute to UK- Norway intelligence operations during #WW2 and mark the deep defence relationship that exists to this day.

The saddest news to hear that Princess Astrid has died aged 94. I saw her at the funeral of her late brother King Harald two days ago.
A remarkably sad time for the Norwegian Royal Family and for the country.
