I’m looking for rock/metal opera albums that tell a narrative story (i.e. not just soundtrack albums from stage/screen). So far I know (and love) two: Jeff Wayne’s “War of the Worlds” and Mike Dalager’s “Dreams in the Witch House”. Any other recommendations out there?

It’s always a bit surprising to remember that the people we admire as heroes and leaders are also just humans. No matter how driven in any particular discipline, they still have a human attention span and 24 hours in a day to fit it all in (alongside sleep, family & recreation).
I don't really follow any of those topics. I really only follow science, tech and business. I get my economics from podcasts (all by economists)

This is a great optical illusion. I’d love to know the original source. The apparent motion is caused by the flashing and not the arrows in the middle (try covering them with your fingers).

We could all use better cognitive immune systems to engage more effectively with social media and topical discussion shows. Media literacy and awareness of cognitive biases is a pretty good place to start. These forthcoming articles should be a great way to learn some of that.
For the record, there is no “social media special sauce”. It’s a combination of platform manipulation, partisanship, social marketing, and preying on people’s cognitive & emotional vulnerabilities. It’s not magic, I promise you. And it’s not authentic engagement.

Another microcosm of Twitter dysfunction. The OP had a mildly trolling tone (to ⬆️ engagements), but in all the we vs. thee “arguments” that I saw in the comments, not one focused on the only salient fact: that both the US and European formats are ambiguous 11 days each month.

I just noticed the typo/autocorrect here. 😂❤️

Looks great, glad you're engine your engine Kind Regards

Also, I’ve found its rotation speed to be a useful indicator of when my tea has cooled enough to drink. So I get to enjoy the engine engining for 10-15 minutes a couple times a day. :)

I am not entering the contest, but was already going to post that I’m excited to watch the new Benson & Moorhead film tonight, now that it’s available. I was also going to mention that “The Endless” is one of my (possibly top 10) favourite movies of all time.

Pro tip: A string quartet will play (almost) any song you want to include as part of your special event. But the full range of music at their fingertips is so varied and wonderful that you’d do well to limit the pop song requests to just the ones that are most meaningful to you.

But you might be surprised to know just how common (especially among the grooms) the following thought is: “Wouldn’t it just be *fun* to hear some classical musicians play XXXXXX.”

They’ll do it, and it’ll sound nice. Because they’re professional. But it’s not actually novel (except to you), and you’re basically just depriving yourself of some different way more gorgeous playing.
Proportional Representation would be a good start…

The big HH shows are unique in the medium. The podcast world has many weekly and monthly podcasts. It has few long form deep dives presented uninterrupted. The pacing of HH feels more like a movie, while weekly shows feel like TV. We need more movies.

Another microcosm of Twitter dysfunction. Anyone actually familiar with Cargill would puzzle at the discrepancy between his sentiment here and the reactions in the comments. But those who just came to it via McCain’s RT read it with a very different context. Weep, my friends.
It is 2022. Most of us don't want to be angry at each other. We want to feel safe. What anger we have we want to go toward building a better, safer world - for our friends, family, and strangers we'll never meet. Trying to capitalize on conflict is literally Web 2.0 nonsense.
My reference library in its new (temporary, but hopefully long term) home. The folks at Keo Scientific were kind enough to lend me some real estate. 🙂❤️

And the neighbours are great, too!
Optical illusion, part 2. Devin printed the larger “Penrose Cube” for me, too. 😀 Spoiler warning: the video here does give you a peek “behind the curtain”.

I’ve wanted to hold one of these in my hands for over a decade, and today I’m deliriously thrilled that my friend Devin made one for me. :D

I bought this KS90 from @KontaxEngines earlier this year as a bit of long-overdue wish fulfillment. Today was my first chance to enjoy it being driven by the sun. (Handwarmth or mugs of tea are also great ways to get it going.)
