His father - the terrorist he was - took the lives of many many children for his own selfish goals, including the lives of many many Tamil children who he forcibly recruited as child soldiers to fight for him. When I had entered the LTTE controlled areas to intw Thamilselvan back then, I saw these Tamil children holding guns in their hands when they should have been holding books! I don’t accept this child’s alleged death but at the same time I don’t accept the killing of every other child which Prabhakaran and his terrorist outfit did!
Today, Balachandran Prabhakaran should be turning 30. Instead he remains a 12-year-old boy. The one who was detained by the Sri Lankan army, handed a snack, and then executed. They shot him at least five times, straight through the chest, from point blank range. He could have reached out and touched the gun that killed him. The soldiers photographed his body afterwards and kept the images as trophies. He has now been dead for longer than he was alive. Not one person, from those who gave the order to those who pulled the trigger, has ever been held accountable. Balachandran is one of thousands of Tamil children killed by the Sri Lankan military. Happy birthday, Bala. One day there will be justice.
