Sometimes a demo is simply to remind the world that your competition has no desire to dream -- and no ability to evolve.

So proud of the MLX team!
Muse Spark Open, on your desk: 816B params at 36+ tokens/sec on 4 Mac Studio computers.
We've been hard at work on better M5 GPU Neural Accelerator support, a smoother Thunderbolt experience (including multi-cable meshes), and kernel optimizations for MoE architectures.
Oh — and MLX LM (mlx_lm.generate, mlx_lm.server) now supports the vision modality for Muse Spark Open!
More on using MLX for distributed inference of frontier-scale models on Mac Studio:

Congrats to the team! Amazing to run a model of Muse Spark Open's caliber and scale this efficiently, right from your desk. Mac Studio keeps pushing the boundaries of on-device AI!
A new paper from Apple engineers ends with a line we couldn’t have written better ourselves:
"if idle macOS devices across organizations [...] can be securely federated, they could form a massive, shared GPU resource pool that benefits the broader ecosystem."
That’s what we’re building with Darkbloom.
The paper's Minions is a system that pool idle Apple Silicon Macs into a distributed GPU cloud for on-prem inference. Queue times went from 10+ hours to minutes. Zero new GPU purchases. Zero infrastructure cost.
It runs inside Apple, on coworkers’ Macs, using the company’s own storage and access controls. When a team needs more capacity, they Slack colleagues and ask them to turn on the executor. Even in that setting, the top adoption concern was data confidentiality. People were wary of their jobs running on a colleague’s Mac. Apple’s fix was to keep each team’s work on its own team’s machines.
Which brings it back to that one word in the conclusion: “securely.”
Inside a company, you can shrink the network until you trust everyone in it. On an open network, the machine belongs to a stranger and there’s no one to Slack. Keeping prompts private and outputs honest on hardware you don’t control is the hard problem that we solved at Darkbloom.
Apple built the on-prem version.
Darkbloom is the open one.

If you have high standards, you will inevitably offend people at some point in your work or life.
You are responsible for your delivery, but not how they react or respond.
Hold the standard anyway.

Upgrade your appearance. Become harder to reach, cut off negative people and enjoy alone time. That's how you create value.

Apple is cracking down hard on vibe coded slop flooding the App Store.
And that’s a good thing.

There is a big gap between what people *say* they want, and what they're willing to sacrifice & work for.
In that gap, all of their dreams die.

The most effective ambitious people have *internal* drivers, not external ones.
They may want external things, have external goals, but their engine runs on internal fuel that is unlimited.

curiosity maxxing
find answers to the questions that randomly pop up, lean into the thought that make you uneasy
write till your brain runs clear, follow through those strings of ramblings & unkempt thoughts
and keep going until your “why now” becomes a “why not”
be curious.

I know it's boring and sometimes difficult to understand, but read the damn legal document you're about to sign.
The professionals make mistakes or they sometimes try to sneak something in that you may not want.
I've saved myself so much headache this year alone by taking the time to read through what's presented to me.
For example, an investment firm mixed up my ask with someone else and almost liquidated my entire portfolio all at once 🥴 Not only would I have missed out on future gains, my tax bill would have been hell.
On an even bigger notes, my friend was almost sold the wrong house because the realtor mixed up the address slightly 😬
