✨🍃 Finished my forest environment!! 🍃✨ It was a blast working on this project for my thesis; I learned a bunch of new techniques and finally dabbled in foliage; now, on to the next project! 🫡 #ArtistOnTwitter #UnrealEngine5 ⬇️ Artstation with Breakdowns in replies! ⬇️

Please don't do this for indie developers you love! The majority of indies have completely run out of budget by the time they hit launch. Supporting them when the game first releases is the only way you're going to get those QOL patches and post-launch content.

I kinda miss studying game art because for my job I don’t make anything beyond low poly pixel art / 2D, so I have little reason to sculpt, create shaders, or anything super cool Maybe I should start doing personal projects again

This is why it’s important that people discuss and report on gamedev accurately. This attitude right here. Great directors have great teams. The exceptional people that drive tech and art to achieve great directors visions are not ‘wagies’.
Can we please stop talking about game directors as if they make the entire game themselves

There’s that quote from Dead Poet’s Society that really stuck with me regarding this. “medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for.”

Being married to a rare disease scientist ( focusing on one’s that affect children specifically ) I used to think what we did as artists wasn’t really important nor did it really matter in the grand scheme of things . And there is some truth to it ( to some degree ) 🧵
I’m not hiding his name. Saw this on LinkedIn today. This is NOT how you talk about your peers. If you feel this way keep that shit to yourself. Do not work with this man. Absolute disgusting to have so little value in basic human decency to call people pathetic because job loss isn’t as bad as a concentration camp?

for rest areas, personally I use the 70-30% rule most of the time. The idea is that 30% percent is filled with the main focus and details, and the remaining 70 percent is rest area, meaning surfaces with very low to none eye catching detail. Details are thoughtfully placed.

There's no right way to sculpt stylized, there's just different "right ways". You can have different looks from game to game. There is, however clearly right principles to know (edge thickness, rest areas, implied details etc) Ignoring all of them could lead to the "wrong way".

Guilty, and even more cringe because we met because of Minecraft 🥴
This is catastrophic

This will decimate the UK games industry. There isn’t enough to pull from in the local talent pool, furthermore this is gonna drive out a lot of people as well In 2013 I was scrambling to get a job that paid £21k for a work visa, there is no way anyone can bag £38k immediately
Salary threshold for skilled worker visas to rise to £38,700 under government plans to cut legal migration levels Follow live bbc.in/3RamgGW

Kind of whack regarding the PC Gamer all male take. There are so many women that I look up to in #gameart - @Kazperstan @kimaava @nina_m_klos @ohfudgebunnies @Wonder_Phoenix @MegFables @ivannaliitt @Vaarchi @kj_johnson_art @clairemonart @invaderroxas @NikkitaRacquel @troglodette

Replace junior modelers ? Theres literally super young artists even younger than 20 creating amazing stuff. Ai ppl trying to compete with their mediocre creations it’s just so funny to me. No one is replacing super skilled young ppl with your ugly ass models lol
Unbelievable… claims this will replace junior artists. Even uses a heart for some reason?
