This was an interesting topic of conversation with our student council. When asked about assessment, their immediate answers revolved around “completing work” and “doing what they were supposed to do”. It was fascinating to see how much they didn’t actually mention “learning”.
It’s not enough to change the practice of grading.
We have to change the culture of learning.
