To celebrate #WorldAnatomyDay2023 the Human Anatomy Unit held an event today highlighting the need to improve equality, diversity and inclusivity in the teaching of Anatomy.
Students and staff got involved in cake decorating, model making, and learnt more about EDI in anatomy!
When World Anatomy Day and your birthday fall on the same day!!
I had a wonderful time drawing, colouring and chatting with students at @unibirm_MDS today @unibham_SoBMS #WADuob23 #WorldAnatomyDay2023

We've designed an open & low-cost scanning microscope for detecting microplastics in seawater samples! 🌊🧪
Now we want to get it into the hands of maker spaces and community groups across Ireland! 🛠️
Want to help us do it?

I just signed this petition, seeking clarity on whether Irish government-funded research bodies will increase the PhD stipend to €25,000 in the 23/24 academic year, as recommend in the recent national review on PhDs. Please read and share.
The recent PhD review suggested that govt. funded PhD stipends are increased to 25K from September.
Despite contacting the SFI and IRC multiple times, we've been met with radio silence.
HELP us break this silence by signing the petition below.

Congrats also to @JamesWhiteAnat who also got a prize for his talk - a great performance from our anatomy demonstrators!
Fantastic talk (as always) from @Niamh_deBurca, opening the @UCD_CHAS graduate student research symposium with her presentation on accessible imaging solutions for marine microplastic detection.

To kick off our Science Week 2022 Dunamase College, James White spoke to our Senior Cycle students giving them an insight into his science path after leaving school.
Brilliant to see the UKRI increasing their minimum PhD stipend on Oct 1st by more than £2,000 to £17,668. Even better to see universities across the UK matching the increase including Queens Belfast and Ulster University. PhD students in Ireland surely due a living stipend now?
PhD researchers @QUBelfast have had a stipend increase announced today to match UKRI and the previous announcement by @UlsterUni - a welcome start to better support for our researchers across NI! More needs to come! @ucu @UCU_Ulster @UCUPostgrads @ucuatqub @ucu_solidarity

PhDs are an essential part of our research system & our economy, and we have great PhD opportunities in Ireland. But it is past time to increase the national stipend level. Thanks to @KOSullivanIT @IrishTimes for our conversation on this.
