Last week, my wonderful sister Caroline died suddenly at home. She had been ill with pulmonary hypertension for a while but none of us expected her to be taken so soon. We are all devastated. She was 50 years old. – at Glasgow, Scotland

Generally disagree with Jacob Rees-Mogg on almost everything but this is such a good example of how insane America has gone that Carlson genuinely thinks the UK is more authoritarian than Russia and even JMS is shocked:
Sir Jacob Rees-Mogg explains how Britain, which has a combat ready military force about half the size of New York’s police department, must prepare for war with Russia.

Boris Johnson and Dominic Cummings WERE put in charge of Brexit, and they then delivered it.
At some point its biggest supporters need to start acknowledging that the brighter future promised by Vote Leave was a lie.
That's the long and short of it.

The original sin of Brexit was not allowing Vote Leave to own the project after victory.
In wrestling power from the people who won the referendum, insane internal machinations within the Parliamentary Conservative Party prevented those who campaigned for the outcome from delivering that outcome.
From the start the whole project was decapitated.
And so here we are now, ten years on, having repealed precious little EU law, pursuing no supply side reform, indeed still building a £125m bat tunnel in order that HS2 abide by the retained EU Habitats Directive.
For the best part of a decade the political class stole the victory from the people.
And now they have the temerity to say their own failure is actually the fault of the people for wanting an independent country.

Saying the Falklands belong to Argentina is like saying Greenland belongs to the US. There is no historic precedent of the territory ever having belonged to them.
The only claim to sovereignty rests on geographical proximity and the owner being a distant European.
Kinda wild to do this the week after your daughter and heir died.

Today, the European Union took a major step forward.
All Member States agreed to open the first accession negotiations cluster with Ukraine and Moldova.
At the first Intergovernmental Conference on Monday, we will open the cluster on fundamentals; the backbone of the accession process.
It covers the core values and principles on which the EU is built, from the rule of law to strong democratic institutions.
This is a recognition of the determination, courage and hard work shown by both countries in advancing reforms, even in the face of immense challenges.
And a signal that the EU’s offer of peace, stability and opportunity is unmatchable.
Enlargement is a strategic choice.
By bringing our nations closer together, we strengthen peace, security and prosperity across our continent.
In a world marked by growing uncertainty, a larger European Union is in our common interest.
Enlargement remains one of the EU’s greatest success stories and our best investment in our shared future.
