Tom Hanks ran through this iconic Vermont farm in the running sequence in Forrest Gump. It's called the Jenne Farm and it has appeared in magazine covers, photography books, and a Budweiser television advertisement. Despite its fame, the private farm is located along a dirt road.

A beautiful day in the neighborhood: Overlooking Long Pond last night. It was an absolutely perfect night for photos - or just gazing up at the sky.

Another beautiful moonrise over Lake Ontario in Rochester N.Y. This one from late last night. And again, I'm puzzled by the lights on the horizon to the left of the moon. If anyone knows what these are, please let me know. Canadian lights? Fata Morgana?

Yet another beautiful moonrise last night at midnight over Lake Ontario. If you look carefully, there appears to be the lights from a boat along the horizon all the way to the left. Whoever it was must have been getting a wild ride in those wind and waves.

Good morning! Stunning sunrise this morning over Lake Ontario - and an equally stunning sunset over Buck Pond last night.

Lake dusk last night, 45 minutes after sunset. And if you look carefully there is a Blue Heron hunting in the foreground. Athough it looked almost totally dark to my eye, a 30 second exposure brought out all the beautiful detail and color. End of summer is tomorrow at at 8:05 pm.
