As we come together this March to celebrate Women’s History Month, I want to take a moment to reflect on the vital role that women have played—both within Verizon and in the world at large—in shaping our culture, purpose, and success. Verizon’s culture has always been driven by a clear purpose: to create networks that do more than just connect people through technology. We’re building networks that bring people together, inspire collaboration, and move the world forward. This sense of purpose defines everything we do, whether at work, in life, or in society. It’s what fuels our commitment to foster an inclusive V-Team experience where talented individuals—regardless of background—can collaborate, inspire each other, and achieve something meaningful. This month, we honor the incredible contributions of women to American history and the world at large. It’s important to remember that the roots of Women’s History Month began in a small, local celebration in Santa Rosa, California, in 1978. The Sonoma County education task force chose March 8 to align with International Women’s Day, and from there, the movement grew. By 1980, the National Women’s History Project successfully lobbied for national recognition. In 1981, President Jimmy Carter declared the week of March 8th as National Women’s History Week, and by 1995, the month of March was officially designated as Women’s History Month. This year’s theme, Moving Forward Together: Women Educating and Inspiring Generations, speaks to the collective progress we’ve made and the incredible leadership of women across all industries. At Verizon, this theme resonates deeply as we continue to break barriers and lead in areas where women are making an impact in leadership roles. As we celebrate Women’s History Month, I’m reminded of the powerful role that women have played and continue to play at Verizon. They are not only shaping our company’s culture, but also driving our values of embracing diversity, inspiring personal development, and delivering on our commitment to operate with integrity. These amazing women of the West are integral in helping us stay focused on what truly matters—serving our customers, connecting our communities, and making a difference in the lives of families around the world. Let’s take this opportunity to honor the incredible women at Verizon who are leading the way, not only in their roles but in shaping our future. Their passion, drive, and commitment bring out the best in all of us. At Verizon we take pride and strength in our amazing women celebrating thru our WAVE Network (Women's Association of Verizon Employees).
