AI can’t do this!
Ability of SID dept. to put positive headlines on its college’s Website is endlessly impressive.
Yeah, Oles:
Dillon runs for long touchdown, football bested by No. 15/17 Bethel athletics.stolaf.edu/news/20…
Why is this not public information?
Gonna throw this out there because I know you all know the behind the scenes stuff. There are FOUR #NJFootball teams ineligible for the playoffs due to DQs. We know Lindenwold and Buena. Who are the others? Gotta be some coaches out there who know. Need to know who to leave out, if at all, for our projections. Otherwise, we can't give accurate projections. Anyone? If you want to stay private, DM us. -Mike @WJFCA2020 @NJICathletics @SFCFootballNJ @JSSInsider @ShoreSports_NJ @bigstatesports @MikeKinneyHS @SimeonPincus @bordenfb4ever @guy_kipp
The universe is paying Rutgers back 48 years after the Chinese national team refused to play OT at the Garden. nj.com/rutgersbasketball/202…
The Giants have shifted from pretending he's moments away from becoming Reggie White to now explaining how the uneducated world just cannot appreciate his value.
The 2023 tweet where McAfee falsely reported an FBI raid on an NFL coach's home is, incredibly, still up.

If so, Washington obviously has no excuse for not knowing the rules. But NFL overtime is unnecessarily complicated and confusing.
There should be no OT in the regular season. But since that will not happen, they should just play a full 10-minute period to conclusion.
I am now convinced the Commanders somehow thought the Giants would get the ball back if they kicked a field goal.
It was second-and-8. If they wanted to get closer, they had two plays to do so. Why drain unnecessary clock, including putting a man in motion?
You can make a reasonable case for utilizing AI tools on stuff like AP-style game stories, capsules, etc.
Having robots write “feature” stories is insane.
Excerpt from the @DailyEvergreen story:
"To write feature stories, Alworth said the SIDs send student-athletes a list of questions. The athletes then type or voice-record their answers. FanWord generates a story based on their answers...Some have said the method lacks the ability to ask follow-up questions."
AI writing recaps is one thing, feature stories is another and it's discouraging to read this. As a past employee in the athletic department, I wrote many feature stories and conducted numerous interviews with student-athletes, alumni, and donors for stories. I made sure I had at least 10 questions to ask the main subject of the story (something I learned as a @MurrowCollege student). There is no substitute for sitting down with the individual, looking him or her in the eye, and developing a human connection. In every interview, there were answers from prepared questions that prompted follow-up questions, which enriched the story.
Quantity of feature stories may increase but the quality of content will suffer.

Raise the cap to 22? Insert Brian Windhorst meme.
new - Cody Campbell group Saving College Sports warning that UNC, FSU, Miami and Clemson could tank college sports bill in the House by pushing "to raise the conference cap from 20 to 22 while also sunsetting the entire provision so that they have the right to immediately bolt from the ACC"
"They have told members of our board in just the last several hours that they are willing to do everything in their power to defeat the bill if their demands are not met"
What a ridiculous thing to say when you are purposely making it impossible for half the nation to achieve your definition of success.
Story on Big Ten commissioner Tony Petitti's comments today: No discussions about expansion, why optimism remains about the PCSA and the 24-team CFP, which will boost the league's non-conference scheduling.
"The definition of success in college football is qualifying for the CFP."

Good high school sports reporting can print money for local news outlets. But too many beancounters are too dumb to grasp this.
If they cannot afford to fire him -- which I don't really buy -- then can they at least get him to stop acting like a buffoon in his press conferences?
