Public executions for capital crimes are biblical. There is a reason to demonstrate the wages of evil acts. For one thing, it reminds society that evil exists and must be stopped.
I just noticed that @megbasham is tweeting virtually identical thoughts on this, which makes me feel even better about my take.
If you understand the basic purposes of executions—the objection to making them public becomes absurd.
As a first year law student, you learn the two basic reasons we punish crime. The first is retribution. Vengeance is not for the individual. Vengeance belongs to the Lord. But he has ordained the State to carry out this purpose.
The second is deterrence. The most foundational Judeo Christian notion is that man is fallen. That fallen nature must be restrained in a just society by the threat of punishment.
The execution itself serves a public purpose in society. It gives vengeance to the victim and sends a message to future criminals. This is why executions were public for thousands of years.

All throughout the Old Testament, God demands public executions for capital crimes. And in Romans 13 (that is the New Testament) we are told that the government is designed to terrorize evil doers. THAT is its fundamental purpose. To maintain order and restrain evil.
I believe our culture has been degraded by hiding the means of that restraint away. I’m not saying we make it a circus, but bearing public witness to the wages of evil acts grounds a culture morally. The public execution of Nidal Hasan perfectly accords with that.

I’ve received word the President @realDonaldTrump has approved our emergency declaration.
This will help our state recover after Isaias.

Thank you, @SecMullinDHS.
As Hurricane Isaias approaches the Gulf Coast, @DHSgov and @FEMA are closely monitoring the storm and coordinating with state, local, and federal partners to ensure we are ready to support state response efforts.
To everyone in the storm’s path: ask that you also do your part to stand ready. Now is the time to prepare. Dangerous storm surge, flooding, damaging winds, and prolonged power outages are possible. Have an emergency plan, charge your devices, secure outdoor items, and follow instructions from local officials, including evacuation orders.

Praying for my many friends and former neighbors in south Alabama and the Florida panhandle. Follow evacuation instructions, and stay safe!
Florida and Alabama: If local officials issue an evacuation order, follow their instructions and head to your state-designated evacuation zones as soon as possible. Make sure to have multiple ways to stay updated and receive emergency alerts as Hurricane #Isaias develops.

NPR lost its federal funding because it became a tool of the Left, perpetuating lies to advance the cause of the Democratic Party. I have spoken with Stephen for hundreds of hours about these issues. He has never once suggested ICE detention should be inhumane. Detention facilities, however, are not luxury hotels, and detained illegal aliens can go home at any time. DHS.GOV/CBPHOME
Stephen "Miller did not want the facilities that were comfortable. He did not want facilities that were humane. We were told point-blank that that was not what the administration wanted."

Democrats don’t need to “abolish ICE.” When they have power, they just turn it off.

To understand the degree of lower court activism DHS faces, look at the Supreme Court’s emergency docket. Over the last 1.5 years, we have asked the Court for emergency relief 10 times on major immigration related policies. We won all 10.
Democrats pretend to care about judicial misconduct while their appointees destroy the constitutional order daily.

.@DHSGenCounsel on Third-Country removals: “For many years, because the bureaucracy just didn’t really take this seriously and people weren’t willing to spend the diplomatic capital to remove people, very serious criminals who were removable, would just be released back into the community... The Trump administration has prioritized this.”

Our campaign is firing on all cylinders. Floridians deserve a Senator who fights FOR them, not a radical socialist agenda.
Less than 1 month to go. It’s time to WIN!

Great conversation with @FoxNews about third country removals and our three-peat of Supreme Court wins.
SCOTUS hands Trump a temporary win on third-country deportations — a tool DHS can use to send removable aliens to nations other than their home country when they cannot be returned there.
DHS General Counsel James Percival is now going public with case after case of criminal deportees he says illustrate why the tool matters.
The current statutory framework dates to a sweeping 1990s immigration law signed by President Bill Clinton. Percival says previous administrations failed to make aggressive use of authorities already on the books.
The Supreme Court will hear arguments in December over whether DHS's current procedures comply with federal law, due process and protections against torture. The administration's guidance stays in effect in the meantime.

A Biden appointed judge in Florida says that federal bans on noncitizen voting are unconstitutional. The thing that never happens is now “constitutionally protected activity!”

DHS faces rampant judicial misconduct across the country. Thank you, @TheJusticeDept
.@TheJusticeDept has filed a judicial misconduct complaint against the Minnesota federal judges who spoke to the NYT in an unethical partisan press tour on immigration cases. Judges who covet publicity undermine public confidence in the rule of law.
