Incredible review. No notes.
The Runner (🌟) is so bad, I thought about shutting down this entire account. I literally took a walk around the block alone & questioned whether I should even keep this entire operation going - that’s how utterly awful this film was on every level imaginable. You guys remember Ice Cube’s movie War of the Worlds last year? The Runner makes War of the Worlds look like The Godfather. And I don’t want to hear a damn word from anyone in my comments suggesting I’m being overly dramatic about how bad this film is when all I ever hear from you people is that I give every film a positive rating. You want an example of a film I despise? Here you go. The Runner is unquestionably one of the worst films I’ve seen since I started Cinema Tweets.
Before going any further, I want to extinguish anyone who thinks that anything I’m about to say about Gal Gadot is politically charged. From the inception of this account, I have always - always -consistently focused on the performance art hand. Whether it be Kevin Spacey, Jonathan Majors, Brad Pitt - whomever you want to pick - my position as always been to focus on the art before me. I leave it to others to get political. All of which is to say that nothing I’m about to say about Gal Gadot has anything to do with her political or world views. I don’t want to hear a single person say “Oh Mr. Tweets, what gives?” or “Oh CT, you’re going after Gadot for personal reasons”. Stop. Immediately. Right now. I’m here to talk about the film & performance I just saw.
With that said? Dog shit. Insurmountable, unimaginable, unthinkable dog shit. Dog shit from director Kevin MacDonald. Dog shit form writer Mark Gibson. Dog shit from co-lead Damian Lewis. And above all, sheer, unadulterated dog shit falling from the sky from Gal Gadot. Just the only two words that come to mind as the end credits pierce my body: dog shit. The idea here is that Gadot plays London-based, high-powered attorney Maria Marten. Marten is out for a run one afternoon after dropping her kid off at school and recounts a horrifying phone call from a mysterious caller (Damian Lewis). The focal point here is that Lewis claims he’s holding Noah hostage and will continue to fuck with Noah’s blood sugar levels because Noah is diabetic. The whole crux is that Gadot has to run across the city within an hour to a hotel and murder a key witness who is supposed to testify against Lewis.
I can’t simply put everything on Gadot here - she’s not given any help by the story or direction here. The story is flatly stupid. It’s like all the worst parts of Phone Booth mixed in with some of the shittiest direction I’ve ever seen. Half the film is Gadot staring at her phone screen or staring off into the abyss wondering what’s going on with her son while strangers look at her like she’s an alien. The story is also incredibly stupid in the sense that Gadot’s character never really verifies whether Noah is actually kidnapped and with the Caller. There are countless, mindless plot holes that make it impossible to ignore the story’s stupidity. All of which is tied into awful filmmaking that feels AI-based. None of the shots of London feel real. Hell, none of the shots of Gadot feel real.
But Gadot is nowhere near absolved of guilt. In the hands of a more interesting, more charismatic actor, there’s a chance The Runner might’ve made some sense. But Gadot is just so unbelievably bad, it actually pissed me off. Countless times throughout the film I found myself literally angry at how fucking annoying every last word out of Gadot’s mouth was - it’s just none stop whining? Her line delivery was atrocious and her physicality was absurd - it’s like this is a human who’s never ran before in her life, let alone cried or felt anxiety. It’s truly some of the shittiest acting I’ve ever had the displeasure of sitting through.
I know what some of you are thinking - is The Runner so bad, it’s good? Is it so bad it’s at the point of parody/entertainment still? Hell no.

A QUICK NOTE FOR ARC READERS, GIVEAWAY WINNERS & READERS WHO RECEIVE FREE COPIES
If you receive one of my books as an ARC, giveaway copy, promotional copy, or simply because I handed you a free book, please be careful with the wording you use if you decide to leave a review on Amazon.
Over the last week, Amazon has removed three reviews/ratings from The First Glimpse. I have appealed the removals, but so far I have received little beyond automated Customer Service responses and the usual support loop.
Amazon allows authors to provide readers with free or discounted copies of their books. The problem appears to be language that can make a completely legitimate review sound as though the book was given in exchange for the review.
So please DO NOT use phrases like:
“I received this book in exchange for an honest review.”
“The author gave me a free copy in exchange for my review.”
“I was provided this book for reviewing it.”
“I received a complimentary copy for this review.”
“I was given this ARC in return for an honest review.”
Or Anything else suggesting that receiving the book was conditional upon leaving a review.
That wording can make it sound like the review was part of a transaction, even when that absolutely was not the case.
If you want to disclose that you received an ARC or free copy, something simple is much clearer:
“I received an advance copy of this book. All opinions are my own.”
or
“I received a complimentary copy of this book. I chose to leave this review voluntarily.”
Most importantly, receiving a book from me never obligates you to review it. Reviews are nice to have, but I do not require reviews from ARC readers, giveaway winners, convention attendees, or anyone else who receives a free copy. If you choose to review it, the rating and opinion are entirely yours, whether you loved it, hated it, or it landed somewhere in between.
None of us enjoy having a genuine 3, 4, or 5-star review deleted because an AI/automated system interpreted one sentence as a compensated review.
Please keep this in mind when reviewing indie authors in general. A few innocent words can apparently make a legitimate reader review look like something it isn't.
Roped him in with the old ‘Do you want a free book to read that will change your life’ trick 😏
Indie August.
My adventure with the wheel has ended. Now time to read some indies.
@JamesDmichael
House of the Dragon finishes S3 and I find myself mixed on it.
I give this season a 7/10.
Some great moments. The story is wonderful. But too many of the characters r bland or just uninteresting. Not a 1 competes with GoT or AKotSK.
Rising Gale by @ZB_Steele 👏🏻 👏🏻
It’s so great to see writers improve on what was already a phenomenal start.
Steel’s taken what made Whispers so good and run away with it.
Prose. Dialogue. Action. Confidence in himself as a storyteller. ✅ ✅ ✅
Highly recommend

Game Of Thrones is one of the main inspirations of Kingdom Of Herod.
Except Kingdom Of Herod is more directly based on real history & is less gratuitous.
Am I the only reader who doesn’t care how a book smells? Maybe I’ve been on the kindle train for too long 😅
Indie authors check this out. Very complete and convenient list

Outside of nostalgia is there anything better about reading a physical copy of a book over an ebook?
I’m not talking about the bookshelf. I’m not talking about the smell of a book. Really, is there one thing better about it?
To fellow authors. When is it ok to use AI?
Book covers? ❌
Editing/writing? ❌
Marketing/advertising?… maybe 🤔
Using ChatGPT to check something? ✅
I do think there should be a line, I just don’t know where it is drawn. We all use AI sadly, it’s just a matter of how.
FB adds are fun but the return on investment is a bit of a pain.
Currently working on a new marketing strategy that is going to be a game changer.
Watch this space because the next month is going to blow up
Started Rising Gale by @ZB_Steele last night (long overdue)
10 chapters in and I can see what the hype is all about. What a writer! What a storyteller! What a guy!

Still seeking a few more respondents to this 16 question fantasy poll. No wrong answers (well, more or less). Using the compiled answers for a game show episode. This will remain up through Saturday. Give it a shot. Fun questions! Thanks for the help! forms.gle/gxwZ4quPHgW9yVL68
What words do you always spell incorrectly no made how many times you write them?
For me, I cannot spell guarantee to save my life (this spelling was heavily work shopped with autocorrect)
I find necessary challenging too lol
At 8000 KDP pages read this month, I’m averaging about 500 pages a day.
And at 19 sales so far, that’s more than 1 a day (most of these have been the last week)
Finally figuring at FB sales. Committing to the spend. Let’s ride this wave 🏄
Book 3 of the Illborn Saga: Gatebound
This is one of those series that keeps getting better. It’s the characters for me. 4 mains and each is as compelling and complex and the other.
Can’t wait for the conclusion. Honestly, get on this series if you haven’t yet
