Informative story in @NewYorker on opioid settlement spending.
Would have loved, though, to see any sort of attribution for this graf.
I’m the only person I’m aware of who has compiled, analyzed and published this info. It took me weeks in ‘26 and ‘25.

a while ago I made a bunch of unhinged requests to Amazon's shopping AI about things like "the best conceal carry holster for my dog" and I'm pleased to announce it's paid off

Sen. Collins faced Troy Jackson last night in their Maine Senate debate.
On stage, Collins inaccurately described ProPublica’s story about an FBI anticorruption investigation that probed the conduct of her & her staff until Trump’s DOJ shut it down. Let’s get into the facts…

Last week, we reported that the FBI's anti-corruption squad was circling Sen Susan Collins, looking at allegations of a pay-to-play scheme.

For more than two months, I have been working on a truly horrific story about one of the gravest war crimes committed by the United States since Vietnam: The bombing of the Shajareh Tayyebeh school in Minab, Iran. It was one of the first targets struck in the opening hours of the war on February 28, 2026.
At least 156 people were killed in the U.S. cruise missile strikes—120 of them were children and 26 were teachers. We spoke to survivors, first responders, parents, doctors, teachers, psychologists, and other witnesses. Some of them had never before shared their experiences of that day.
It would be impossible to do justice to what happened in Minab that day with words alone. In more than 25 years in journalism and reporting on war, I do not believe I have reported on a more heinous single crime.

The University of Maine is contradicting claims made by Susan Collins’ campaign manager.
Let’s break down why this is important. 🧵

Susan Collins & her staff have tried to debunk our reporting.
They've said we took the word of a convicted felon, that the Biden FBI cleared her, & that we're regurgitating 7 year old allegations.
None of that is true.

The battle over the Smithsonian has been cast as just another Trump blowup. But there's a deeper story to how it became a target, involving the American history museum's search for identity and the Smithsonian's 2020 turn, similar to academia.
