I’ve been playing around with another app. I know weather apps are kind of a designer cliché, but living in Arizona, the weather comes up in conversation all the time.
You’re on a call, talking to family, talking to friends, and somehow someone always asks how hot it is. Or how cold it is. Or if it’s normally this hot this time of year.
So I thought it would be fun to build a weather app around that.
Almanac looks at today’s weather alongside almost 130 years of Arizona weather history. So instead of just seeing that it’s 111° today, you can see where that actually sits historically. What was the hottest it’s ever been on this day? The coldest? When was the last time it was this hot?
A lot of this was also just me wanting to keep pushing what I can build. Going back and forth between Figma and code, vibe coding, trying things, changing things and figuring it out as I went.
Just something that came out of conversations I have all the time and felt fun to make.
I’ve got three app ideas going right now, and this one’s gotten most of my attention, I think because everybody’s been there.
You’ve got your list, you’re grabbing stuff, and somewhere in the middle of the store you start wondering what this is all going to cost. You don’t really find out until the cashier tells you.
Unless you’re someone who studies the weekly ads before you go (respect), staying on budget is mostly guessing.
So I am building Tally. Scan things as they go in the cart, or punch in the shelf price, and it keeps a running total with tax. You can see how much of your budget is left the whole time.
Hopefully I can launch this soon, still working out some bugs.
Started playing with motion in Figma and I’m pretty excited about the potential here, especially as it gets more integrated into advanced prototyping.
I threw together this little ASCII-ish loader pretty quickly.
Living in Scottsdale, I ask myself daily: why is it so hot?
So I built an Arizona heat app: statewide temps, a 7 day forecast, and record highs/lows for today’s date.
Pushing myself to build, not just design. Claude + Figma MCP helped bring it to life. 🌵🔥
Its wild that I pay for @webflow cms and I cant upload videos to my site.
