I'm releasing Tess-4.5-27B today.
Tess-4.5 surpasses its Qwen3.8-27B base model on our engineering evaluations while using 30% fewer reasoning tokens.
It was fine-tuned on real engineering sessions produced with Claude Fable 5, Fable 5.1 and Opus 5.5. Reasoning traces were generated using a constitution to preserve the intelligence density with reduced tokens.

Japan and Singapore are leading India's FDI story!
India attracted $19.82 billion in FDI equity inflows during April–June 2026.
Japan: $5.71B (28.8%)
Singapore: $5.22B (26.4%)
Mauritius: $2.32B (11.7%)
Netherlands: $1.38B (7.0%)
USA: $1.35B (6.8%)
Japan and Singapore together contributed over 55% of the total.
An interesting shift in India's investment landscape. The bigger question: How much of this capital will translate into manufacturing, technology, jobs and long-term economic value?

Toward an automated science of the mind
cell.com/neuron/fulltext/S08…
Summary
Artificial intelligence is opening the door to a new era of scientific discovery: the automated science of the mind. Traditionally, cognitive science has relied on a cycle in which researchers design experiments, collect human behavioral data, develop computational models, and refine theories through scientific debate. Although this approach has advanced our understanding of human cognition, it is time-consuming, dependent on human intervention, and often limited by researchers’ existing assumptions about experiments and models.
The emerging field of automated cognitive science aims to accelerate this process by integrating AI across four stages of discovery. First, AI can generate and represent diverse experimental paradigms, expanding the range of questions researchers can investigate. Second, cognitive foundation models can simulate human behavior, enabling researchers to explore hypotheses before conducting costly experiments. Third, AI-driven program synthesis can generate interpretable computational models that explain observed behavior and reveal new cognitive mechanisms. Finally, automated systems can close the discovery loop by evaluating competing theories, identifying informative experiments, and proposing the next steps in scientific investigation.
However, significant challenges remain. Synthetic behavior may reproduce shortcuts or population-specific biases rather than genuine human cognition. Automatically generated models may be difficult to interpret, sensitive to assumptions, or capable of exploiting evaluation metrics without capturing the underlying mechanisms. Moreover, defining scientific novelty, theoretical importance, and meaningful progress requires careful validation and human oversight.
Ultimately, automated cognitive science is not simply about using AI to analyze data faster. It represents a shift toward AI systems that actively generate experiments, simulate behavior, construct theories, and iteratively test new hypotheses. If successful, this approach could transform cognitive science from a largely researcher-driven process into a more scalable, continuous, and data-informed discovery cycle—while keeping empirical evidence, interpretability, and scientific rigor at its core.

The most built-upon model on the Hugging Face Hub isn’t Llama or Qwen.
It’s FLUX.1-dev from Black Forest Labs, a German lab: 43k derivative models.
Europe trained ~8% of the open-model compute on the Hub, but ~18% of what people build on top of it is European.
Build or surrender? Build, and build open. See you at GTC Berlin this week

🚨 SOFTBANK'S DEBT CRISIS IS GROWING.
It is now down -25% in just the last 7 trading sessions.
The biggest concern is its exposure to AI.
As of June 2026, it held $164 Billion in debt, much of it used to finance its AI investments. The interest costs for this is already at $2 Billion, up 95% from Q1.
In September, it raised another $11 Billion at interest rates as high as 9.75%, adding $1 Billion in annual interest.
Investors are now panicking over whether these massive costs will ever translate into actual profits.
SoftBank’s 5-year default insurance (CDS) shot up by 24 basis points to 424 bps.
This makes it a similar story to what happened to Oracle’s 5Y CDS (288 bps) and CoreWeave’s CDS (1,100bps).
Higher US inflation and Fed rate hike fears are adding even more pressure.
Any corrections in AI valuations could hurt its investments and make it difficult to repay such large debt.

Mistral recently released a 209M model that can predict future data locally on a CPU in ~140 milliseconds.
Not every useful AI model needs to talk (just like Jev)
No GPU required.
It's a super small foundation model designed for time-series forecasting.
Give it historical data like:
📈 sales
⚡ power usage
🏭 sensor readings
📦 demand/inventory
🌡️ telemetry
…and it predicts what comes next without training a new model for each dataset.
The largest version stats
🧠 209M parameters
💾 837MB FP32
🖥️ runs on CPU or GPU
📚 up to 32,768 historical time steps
🔮 forecasts up to 1,024 steps per forward pass
📊 outputs 21 probability quantiles
🎯 Mistral says it ranks #1 among pretrained/zero-shot models on all three major public forecasting benchmarks
🥇 GIFT-Eval
🥇 TIME
🥇 fev-bench
It can get small like Timestral-5M → 21MB
Mistral says on an 8-thread CPU:
⚡ 5M model → ~10 ms
⚡ 209M model → ~140 ms
for a one-day forecast from three weeks of 15-minute data.
