From the labor of growing, exporting, roasting the coffee plants to the materials like packaging, cups & even stir sticks, there are many underlying costs that factor into every cup of coffee consumed. Cc: @FrankTumwebazek @FAOUganda visualcapitalist.com/the-eco… Source: @VisualCap

Did you know that on average a coffee tree in Uganda produces only 0.8kgs of coffee for export? A coffee tree in Uganda can produce between 1-5Kgs of red cherries per season. Most farms produce 3Kgs and this is because most trees are 15years old however with the use of irrigation and fertilisers they can increase to 5Kgs. After drying, hulling, sorting etc, you get 0.8kg. The goal is 1.5-2kgs. #CoffeeFacts #UgandaCoffee

Branding in Coffee & Cocoa: Turning Questions Into a Brand A lot of young people have been asking me how I have been able to make it to the global market at this ‘young age’ and here is my general answer to the youth out there : In the coffee and cocoa sector, branding is no longer just about a logo or packaging it’s about how you position your story so well that people start asking questions. When people ask “How do you do it?”, that’s branding working. Let me use @JackieAkampwera of @JadaCoffee as an example. Her journey shows that powerful brands she don’t have to start in boardrooms she made it straight from the constituency. By understanding farmers, quality and market expectations she has built a brand that speaks for itself. Today her name represents leadership, trust and value beyond raw produce. Just like me Lately, people keep asking me, “How do you make it in coffee and cocoa?” and that alone says a lot. It means the branding is visible. It means the message is clear. It means the work on the ground, the consistency in communication and the focus on quality are being noticed. I didn’t invent magic I focused on story, discipline and origin. Here’s the truth many youths need to hear: branding is built daily not overnight. It’s in how you talk about your product, how you price it, how you package it and how you represent your constituency with pride. When you own your roots and present them professionally, people stop seeing you as “just a farmer” and start seeing you as a brand. Branding in coffee and cocoa means shifting from selling beans to selling belief , belief in quality, in process and in people. Jackie Madam and I show that when you do this right, the market starts coming to you with questions instead of excuses. If people are asking how you’re doing it, you’re already on the right path. Start small, stay consistent, protect quality and tell your story boldly. From the constituency to the global market branding is the bridge. Always remember this: You don’t chase markets with noise you attract them with clarity For God and my country

The most expensive cup of coffee in the world is USD 1,000 about Ugx 3.6M. As of last year in September, Roasters Speciality Coffee House in Dubai was awarded by the Guinness Book of Record. Why was it expensive? It’s because the coffee beans were from one of the rarest and most exclusive coffee beans in the world, auctioned in August. The total price for the 20-kilogram lot was US$604,080. #CoffeeFact #Uganda
