Someone rented the studio to photograph this $3M car and I decided to take a photo with it for the internet
If I am about to do some major creative brainstorming...
Grabbing a Magic Mind first is now almost mandatory because it really works.
It unlocks that lil genius sitting inside us that just needs a little sharper focus.
Super proud of this campaign and the work we did with our partners at Magic Mind!
The #1 rule to selling anything is you can’t communicate with someone unless they are paying attention.
I’ve been talking a lot about why brands need to think with a social-first lens to win and this is a great example I shared at Google this summer.
It’s why the best brands consider product design part of their advertising.
Social-first is a lens that forces brands to understand their customers why - what they want and need to see and hear to - not just what they want to say as a brand.
I am not a spicy take guy, so this is about as spicy as I get on the internet. 🌶️
All this talk of AI and there is a much larger shift happening in advertising.
For 99% of brands, the days of creating one message and blasting it everywhere is over.
They are feeling it but they just don't know why it's happening yet.
You can watch Dancing with the Stars on EIGHT different platforms. GenZ spends more time on YouTube, TikTok and Instagram. Attention is diluted and fragmented, especially if you are relying on unskippable formats.
Brands pop up out of nowhere and get to hundreds of millions in sales without a presence on television... Our work with Dr. Squatch, Grüns, Native, Feastables and dozens of other brands shows it to be true over and over again. They do it by genuinely asking themselves how they entertain, educate and inspire.
Brands stuck chasing frequency instead of attention will be left scrambling.
If you want to delight people, you have to give them something to love.
That means your product, experience, ritual, name, messaging, creative. All of it.
You have to go where others won't or can't.
One of my favorite campaigns of the year and based on the results I am not alone!
While delicious I always assumed dippin dots would be a passing fad… but my son finds them 4-5 times a year it seems
I wonder how they have had staying power?
Maybe margins or the fact they don’t need a whole store?
Sage wisdom
A powerful formula to remember:
happiness ≈ reality − expectations
We don't fully control our circumstances, but only you control your expectations.
This is why comparison is always a losing mindset. No matter what you have, you can always find someone that has more of it than you.
When I talk to other business owners I always ask about their company. The stories are always interesting to me.
But most of the time, once they have told me about their company they are quick to throw in some qualifier about how it isn't impressive compared to the scale of Simple Modern. I make it a point to tell them I strongly disagree.
Regardless of the revenue their business generates, running a company is hard and has my respect.
Spending your time comparing yourself to others will only set expectations that are impossible to meet.
I've found it is much more helpful to have high expectations of myself. I want to do the best that I can. And I do control that!
The older I get, the less I care about comparison. Comparing my life to others is a trap that prevents me from being the best version of myself.
I spent time with a guy this week that is getting married twice, to the same woman.
Two weddings in two different countries.
Honestly, it’s so out of the box that I love it.
Who said you only get married once.
Happy birthday to this fantastic young man @mikebeckhamsm
Your generosity and faith both outshine your business acumen, which is saying something because you are a genius as well.
