A few weeks ago I created a poll asking my Jewish followers if they’d be okay with Palestinian statehood if they knew for 100% site that it would never be used as a launch point for an invasion of Israel. The supermajority agreed that it would be fine under such hypothetical circumstances. People like BG or Smotrich who are opposed to it on religious-national principle are comparatively rare, and the Israeli security establishment has purposefully kept those people away in any case. By comparison the people who are against it on security grounds are quite common, especially after the invasion on October 7. I know *so* many people who used to view right wing settlers as disreputable rabble and have now, reluctantly, come to see them as the countries strategic depth and the first kind of defense against terrorism
