Doctors have suffered the biggest salary reductions of any profession in the last 20 years, when inflation is considered.
This new research will come as no surprise to our members, but will the Government finally take notice? metro.co.uk/2026/09/09/brita…

This new research is a sad indictment of NHS bodies and the Government, who collaborated in a headlong rush to expand the roles of physician and anaesthesia associates without first amassing the evidence that the role was safe.

The evidence base on the safety and effectiveness of physician associate and anaesthetic associate practice in the UK is “sparse and of variable quality,” finds new study

Issue one - competition ratios
When my cohort started medical school, the average competition ratio was 1.8/1, last year it was 4.7/1.
We do not know the full scale of the damage this year. However, these are the specialties we have number of applications data for.
2/16.

At a time when Britain’s healthcare system is acutely short of workers, *1 in 7* UK-trained doctors are practising overseas. No other developed country is like this, which immediately tells you there’s a problem.

Just got an email from post mortem live trying to market freshers tickets that claims to ‘expose people to real specimens, to bolster human anatomy in context’. In what context would a pigs intestine be found in a human shaped shell? This must be false advertising
