Carter Jensen. Demolished. His 27th.
Tie game in the 8th.
That’s a huge swing for those following the standings in Chicago.

Really, really cool moment as the Royals come out of the dugout and salute their caps to Denny Matthews after he was honored on the video board for calling his 8,000th game.
He drew a standing ovation from the crowd that lasted the entire half-inning break.
Carter Jensen just absolutely crushed his 26th homer of the season.
That was Jensen’s 61st extra-base hit of the season, tying Mike Piazza (1993) for the most by a rookie catcher in MLB history.
Great moment in the press box as Denny Matthews was celebrated before he goes on the air for his 8,000th game.
Look out for more moments later tonight.
The Royals have put up a sign above Denny’s radio booth in honor of his 8,000th game.
Manager Matt Quatraro just walked Denny out to the dugout to show the Hall of Fame broadcaster the gesture.

Salvador Perez just crushed his 20th homer of the season.
He’s now hit 20 or more homers in 10 different seasons, a franchise record.
He’s one home run shy of matching Gary Carter and Lance Parrish (324) for the 5th most by a primary catcher in MLB history.
Royals win, 5-4, keeping the White Sox from taking over 1st place in the AL Central.
Maikel Garcia and Carter Jensen each had three hits. The bullpen tossed 5 2/3 scoreless frames on just two hits.
Lucas Erceg pitches a 1-2-3 eighth in his first true high-leverage spot since returning to the Royals. No ball left the infield.
Kansas City still leads, 5-4.
