Work on the Sol Spirit trailer has taken a bit longer than expected. For one, I decided to prioritize finishing work on a new demo for Steam before making any new trailers and that has been taking longer than expect. I'm still hoping to get both done before the end of the month.
In the world of Soulful Slide, helpful Sol Spirits will assist you through various puzzles. A couple of them being variants I made specifically for Soulful Slide. I'm looking forward to sharing more detail soon. #solodev #indiegame

That being said, I thank you all for your patience. There has been hurdles to overcome within the development space, but it's all part of the learning process. I'm looking forward to sharing more about my game as soon as it's ready. #gamedev #solodev

This was a video I initially made for the itch page of Soulful Slide, but I recently decided to make it public on my channel. So if you want another visual sample to hold you over until the next blog or so, you can check that out below. #indiedev youtube.com/watch?v=FoVaOjo8…

Still have a bit of prep work to do before I'm ready to show all the Sol Spirits in action. But I suppose in the mean time, I can show off a "new" thing the fire Sol Spirits can do. #solodev #gamedesign

Technically this is something you can already do in the current demo. But it didn't really have a practical purpose until now so I decided to not say anything and leave it as an Easter Egg. But I do plan to get some milage out of it in future demos so why not share a bit?

Phase 1 of the Steam rework for Soulful Slide is going well. I just pushed a new version of the game on itch that fixes a handful of bugs and adds new features that might be worth playing around with, so I'll throw a link to it here. jackitk.itch.io/soulful-slid… #indiegame #solodev

Now that the major issues/bugs within menus and UI have been accounted for. I'll be moving forward with touching up level design and begin development on new levels. This likely will take some time because my weekends will be busy for the rest of the month.

Because of that, it'll likely be some time before the next update. I'm saving the majority of new content for the Steam release. But the free game might get an update in the future to give you a taste of what I'm adding. It depends on how much I make so I'll keep you all updated.

Don't have anything to share today. But I wanted to confirm that it's been a busy weekend for me, cleaning up the Settings menu and adding in some extra options. Making sure the level transitions was surprisingly brutal, despite everything fine before I added things. :/

Still in the thick of phase 1 of the retail retool. But here's a cool improvement I recently did... In the past, the cursor could go over walls and you could waste snow via throwing it on a wall... 🧵 (You can see me briefly hover over the wall in this clip.) #indiedev #solodev

But now the game runs a check at the start of the level, readjusting the areas the snow cursor can appear to automatically exclude walls, regardless on if the area that detects ice overlaps with wall tiles or not.

Even though I'll be shifting dev focus to Soulful Slide for a few months. I still want to keep this game in the limelight. I'll be taking notes on any feedback I get on the demo of either of these games during development.

So feel free to try it out if you're itching to try out a platformer. Even with Soulful Slide getting more focus currently. Arguably this game needs feedback just as much, with it being the bigger more investment heavy game of the two.

The Flame Slide A signature move of Sara, our blaze lead. It seems like a standard ground attack, but it also lets you get past low hanging obstacles and has the potential for more advance movement. Here's a small sample of its potential. #FirebrandDash #gamedesign #indiedev

New month. New Game N Chill. With a twist. I've had some chill play sessions just unwinding to the crane side mode in Splatoon Raiders. So let's see if that alone can carry a whole video. youtube.com/watch?v=meocoDvV… #Splatoon #SplatoonRaiders
